ARC Raiders: Best Oil Farm Routes and Spawn Locations

The industrial Dam Battlegrounds run beats a fast Stella Montis loop for steady Oil, plus the exact containers to recycle.

The industrial Dam Battlegrounds run beats a fast Stella Montis loop for steady Oil, plus the exact containers to recycle.

Oil is one of the hardest crafting materials to stockpile in ARC Raiders because it does not drop from random loot. You get it by hitting mechanical and industrial spots, cracking open vehicles, and scrapping the right junk into Oil. That makes route choice matter far more than luck.

Quick answer: Run Dam Battlegrounds for the highest overall Oil volume. Start at the Hydroponic Dome Complex, sweep the Water Treatment and Power Generation tunnels, then finish through the industrial garages, looting every car, breachable container, Water Pump, and Polluted Air Filter to scrap on the spot.

Where Oil actually drops

Oil shows up most in mechanical containers and vehicles, not in bags or open shelves. Cars are the single best source, so check bonnets and trunks first. Breachable containers come next, followed by regular containers.

SourceChance to hold Oil
Cars (bonnets, trunks)38%
Breachable containers31%
Regular containers23%
Bags8%
Ground loot (desks, red car toolboxes)Occasional

You can also build Oil indirectly. Water Pumps, Coolant, Polluted Air Filters, Motors, and Synthesized Fuel all recycle into Oil or Oil-based components, so scrapping them mid-run stacks up fast.

Best maps for Oil, ranked by goal

Different maps serve different needs. Dam Battlegrounds gives the biggest raw haul, Stella Montis gives the quickest fill, and Blue Gate is the most mobile car-cracking loop.

Dam Battlegrounds route (best overall haul)

The industrial spine of Dam Battlegrounds is what makes it the top pick. Three connected zones carry almost all the Oil, and you can chain them into one clean loop.

Hit the Hydroponic Dome Complex first. Despite being built for plant growth, the domes are full of pumps, pipes, and industrial crates that spawn Oil, Water Pumps, and Coolant. This is where the biggest single-run stacks come from.
Move into the Water Treatment and Power Generation areas. Work the service tunnels, maintenance halls, and control rooms, since their containers are heavy with mechanical loot. Grab Oil directly and pick up pumps, filters, and coolant canisters to recycle.
Finish through the industrial garages and catwalks. Toolboxes and mechanical crates in the sheds reliably give Oil or recyclable parts, which tops off your run before extraction.

Stella Montis speed loop (fastest fill)

If you want volume in the least time, Stella Montis is the sharper choice. A focused run can pull around 45–50 Oil in roughly 10 minutes, but only if you scrap mechanical components the moment you pick them up. Stella Montis unlocks after 24 rounds played.

  • Security Checkpoint and Garage: Tool crates, vehicle trunks, shelves, and Oil drums near the eastern side of the map.
  • Medical Wing mechanical corridors: Supply closets and maintenance cabinets that push higher-tier parts, with more Oil during Night Raids.
  • Parking and auto lots: Outdoor vehicle clusters and fuel containers. Loot these early before tougher encounters arrive.

Blue Gate oily road run

Blue Gate rewards a mobile playstyle. The common “oily road run” starts at the southern edge and follows the main highway toward the industrial tunnels and gas station. Breach cars, buses, and roadside mechanical containers as you go to string Oil and chemicals together.

The area around the Highway Collapse and the gas stations clusters vehicles, tool lockers, and mechanical racks close together, so you rarely walk far between hits. That density is what makes the loop quick to repeat.

Buried City and Spaceport Tunnels

Buried City leans on vehicles. Breachable buses and cars near roadways and districts often carry at least one Oil each, and pairing that with motors and coolant units from the same wrecks pushes you to multiple Oil per stop. Garages, auto repair shops, and supply rooms near residential blocks add more, and even large stores sometimes hide Oil cans on mechanical racks.

The Spaceport Tunnels are the stealth option. They are filled with utility machines, control panels, water pumps, and motors that either hold Oil or recycle into it, and the enclosed layout keeps you safer from other players and ARC patrols.

Priority loot to grab and recycle

Whichever map you run, target the same items in this order. Everything below either drops Oil directly or scraps into it.

ItemHow it gives Oil
Oil Jugs and CansDirect Oil drop
Water PumpsContains Oil; recycles into 2+ Oil
CoolantRecycles into 2+ Oil
Polluted Air FiltersScraps into 2 Oil, common in industrial areas
Motors and Synthesized FuelRecycle into Oil or Oil-related components
Car and bus containersOften hold Oil directly plus salvageable parts

Tip: Bus trunks carry Oil on every map, and using Survival skills improves container loot quality, so leaning into that skill line pays off over repeated runs. If you would rather buy than farm, traders such as Celeste in Speranza occasionally stock small amounts of Oil or Synthesized Fuel, which you can then recycle for more Oil.

You will know a route is working when your recyclables convert cleanly, and your Oil count climbs each loop rather than staying flat. If a run comes up short, it is almost always because you skipped cars or left Water Pumps and Polluted Air Filters unscrapped, so tighten those two habits before switching maps.
