Bakir Walkthrough in The Blood of Dawnwalker (Full Court Activity Guide)

Every Court Activity, the Lunar Game maze, the boss fight, and what to do with the amethyst ring.

Every Court Activity, the Lunar Game maze, the boss fight, and what to do with the amethyst ring.

Bakir is one of Brencis’s three vampiric vassals in The Blood of Dawnwalker, and you take him down by wrecking his operations across the valley until his Anger meter maxes out. That opens his storyline and the Lunar Game tournament at Lunar Manor, where you fight through a maze and finally kill him.

Quick answer: Attack Bakir’s rebel hunters, transports, distilleries, and pillories from the Court menu until his Anger reaches maximum. Meet Farkas outside Lunar Manor, enter the Lunar Game in the afternoon, clear the maze, beat Bakir the Mad Khan, then grab the amethyst ring from the treasury to end the questline.

Bakir is a Level 20+ target, so the recommended boss order is Ambrus first, then Bakir, then Xanthe. You do not need to finish every activity below. Keep hitting his operations until the Court menu confirms his Anger is full.

Court Activities that raise Bakir’s Anger

These are the disruptive jobs tied to Bakir. Each one advances the in-game clock, and most cost three time segments. Use the 11 Towers to mark them on your map first, and buy Shapeshift (Vampirism) and Mercurial Fervor (Witchcraft) early so you can cross the region faster.

Old HandFree Baltzer of Trier at a pillory outside Lunar Manor. Refuse to let anyone harm him to start Catalin’s Tutor, then beat Catalin in a duel later to unlock a Swordmastery teacher.

A Mother’s Plea and the Uriash side chain

A Mother’s Plea is a hidden, missable chain that runs alongside the standard Court Activities, and some stages are time-sensitive. It links together four quests in this order: A Friend Like This, Song of the Mountain, A Mother’s Plea, and The Heart Wants What It Wants.

Start A Friend Like This near the northeastern wall of Svartrau. Turn on Focus Mode to highlight the damaged wall, blood, and claw marks left by a rogue vrakhiri, then follow the trail across the rooftops.
Follow the tracks into a room where Lacra is interrogating Nish. Convince her to spare him, then finish the vampire boss fight and dialogue.

Song of the Mountain begins automatically and leads to Uriash Village. Hunt and feed on a shepherd, climb the mountain, defeat a Ravenous Bear, then pass the Matriarch’s test of endurance by choosing to stand still and take the hit from her guard.
Follow the Matriarch, inspect the sacred obelisk, and agree to find her missing daughter. Track Ocha to an Altenmarkt tavern, beat her in a brawl, then help retrieve Andrei’s memento to start The Heart Wants What It Wants.
Talk to Katja near the butcher’s stall, loot a silver cross from a chest in Svartrau City, and present it to Dragan the Butcher to reach Andrei’s hideout. Defeat Andrei, meet Ocha by the river to catch crayfish, then return to the Matriarch to receive the map of uriash marks and close out the chain.

Starting the Lunar Game

Once Bakir’s Anger hits maximum, a man named Farkas approaches Coen and proposes entering Bakir’s own deadly tournament at Lunar Manor. He also asks you to retrieve an amethyst ring while you are inside. Agree and meet him outside the estate.

The competition only starts in the afternoon. If you arrive early, Farkas will wait, but that burns several time segments. Spend those hours on nearby quests, shopping, or perks instead, then come back near the start time.

Note: Vampiric abilities are banned during the tournament because using them reveals Coen’s identity. Rely on your sword and Swordmastery skills. Interior rooms often contain rats, so you can feed to recover health without being exposed.

Prep the contestants before the maze

Three time segments remain before dusk once you are inside the grounds. An intro chat with each rival is free, while deeper talks cost time. Two conversations are worth having.

  • Tell the Marten openly that you want Bakir dead for a positive reaction.
  • Speak with the Porcupine before the maze so he agrees to step aside and skip his fight later.

To sabotage the Cockroach, take leaves from the bush in the corner of the gathering area, then interact with the jug beside him to poison his drink. He is not removed immediately, but the later encounter becomes trivial.

When Bakir addresses the contestants, you get an option to drop the disguise and attack right away. Do not take it. You have almost no useful gear at this point, and the maze is designed to give you weapons and armor, so an early fight puts you against Bakir and his whole group in poor shape.

Getting through the maze

Despite the name, the maze is mostly linear. Push forward, kill enemies, and loot every room to upgrade Coen’s equipment before you reach Bakir. On Duelist difficulty, quicksave after major fights to avoid repeating progress.

A trap box blocks the path deeper in. A note on top gives a riddle pointing to the correct hole. Choose the left hole to pass without taking damage.

If you poisoned the Cockroach’s drink, you will find him on the ground and can finish him instantly. If you skipped the sabotage, you have to beat him in a normal fight. For the Porcupine, an earlier chat means he steps aside; otherwise you duel him until he begs for mercy, and you can spare him.

One room asks Coen to retrieve a coin from another contestant’s body. You can comply or refuse. The choice does not meaningfully change the rest of the run.

Isolating and beating Bakir the Mad Khan

After the maze, Bakir discusses your reward. Removing the mask when ordered and giving the obedient reply triggers a fight against Bakir and every remaining henchman at once. The easier route is to manipulate him into taking Coen into the treasury alone.

Pick these key dialogue options in order to reach the treasury without his guards. The white options in between do not matter.

  • I’m sorry, but I’m not taking the mask off.
  • With pleasure.
  • Cheers!
  • To friendship and good fortune!
  • My wish is to die fighting, not quietly in my bed.
  • Is that all? Can I get my reward now?
  • I thought you might want to eat them later — if any other contestants are still alive.

The boss fight

If you failed to isolate him, clear the henchmen first. The group is mostly normal soldiers plus a witch miniboss. Bakir fights mainly with his fists, but he has two dangerous unblockable ranged attacks.

AttackHow to avoid it
Blood linesMultiple lines of blood shoot toward Coen, often several times in a row. Keep dodging sideways rather than stopping after the first line.
Bird flockA flock flies at Coen. Keep some distance and dodge to either side until the whole sequence ends.

Bakir does not swap to a new moveset later. He just alternates between his punches and these two ranged moves, so pattern recognition matters more than reacting to phase changes.

After the fight you can kill him normally or drain his blood. Draining him unlocks the Shadowstorm Vampiric Ability. Either way, loot his corpse for the Legendary Medium Chestplate Bakir’s Armour. If the fight happened in the courtyard and Farkas leads you into the treasury right after, remember to walk back to Bakir’s body before moving on.

The Ring and how to finish the questline

The Ring begins automatically after the Lunar Game. The purple-gem amethyst ring sits inside a small chest on a shelf along the northern side of the treasure room. Picking it up is how you complete the objective.

Talk to Farkas after you have it. You can accuse him of using the whole plan to grab a magical artifact, but if the ring is already on you, you cannot hide it. There are two outcomes.

ChoiceResult
Give Farkas the ringHe takes it and leaves, ending the quest. A later world event can reveal that Farkas accidentally kills his own brother while using the ring.
Keep the ringYou can look for someone who understands the item. Take it to Anca, usually found at the Crossroads inn when she is not in her own questline. She offers to destroy it, and accepting gives an Epic Quick Fighter’s reward.

You will know Bakir is dealt with when the Lunar Game questline closes, The Mad Khan trophy pops for defeating him, and his region no longer feeds the Court’s Anger system. With Bakir gone, turn your attention to Ambrus (if you skipped ahead) and Xanthe, since all three vassals must fall before Brencis is drawn out and you can rescue your family within the 30 in-game day limit.
