There is one important catch when you relocate a potted plant. Moving it strips all fruit from the tree each time, so harvest anything ready before you pick it up. To take a plant back out of the pot, place it down and delete the plant with your shovel. The plant is removed, but the pot returns to your inventory for reuse.
