BedWars Summer Event Tier List

Where the Giant Needle, Water Pistol, Water Balloon, and duct tape rank in the soaking-based Summer Event mode.

Where the Giant Needle, Water Pistol, Water Balloon, and duct tape rank in the soaking-based Summer Event mode.

The Summer Event in BedWars swaps the usual sword-and-block fight for a soaking-based mode where damage is measured by how wet you are. Regular beds become inflatable beds, your melee weapon is replaced by a Giant Needle, and water becomes both your ammo and your terrain. With that shift, the gear that decides matches is completely different from a normal round, so it helps to know which tools carry the most weight before you queue up.

How this was ranked: placements reflect how much each tool decides fights in the soaking mode, weighing reliable damage output, survival value, and how often you can actually use it. This ranking reflects the June 2026 Summer Event mode.

S tier: Water Pistol, your only real source of damage

Water Pistol in Bedwars

The Water Pistol is the main way you deal damage to enemy players, which is why it sits at the top. Hitting an opponent fills a soak meter above their head, and once that meter is full they die and respawn if their inflatable bed is still standing. Nothing else in the mode kills players as directly or as repeatedly.

It is not a point-and-win weapon, though. The fire rate is slow and the water projectiles travel slowly, so switch to first-person view to land shots reliably. Trying to aim it in third person makes hits nearly impossible.

Ammo management matters too. A full pistol gives you roughly 20 shots before it runs dry, and you refill at a water tank. Your base always has one, and you can recall to it by pressing the c key to get back in a few seconds. Extra water tanks are scattered across the map, including inside enemy bases, so you can press an attack even when you are nearly empty by topping up at the enemy’s own tank.

Note: the void is filled with water, so you can swim across large gaps without re-buying blocks to bridge. You still take soaking damage over time while you are in it, as if you were being shot, so plan your swimming routes carefully.

A tier: Duct Tape keeps your inflatable bed alive

Giant Needle in Bedwars

Duct Tape is not a weapon, but it decides whether you stay in the game, so it ranks just below the pistol. Inflatable beds work differently from regular ones. A normal bed can take a hit and be fine if you defend it, while an inflatable bed continuously loses health over time once it is punctured until it deflates completely. When that happens, you can no longer respawn.

Duct Tape patches the punctures so the bed stops deflating, letting you keep fighting and respawning. It is in your inventory by default, so you never need to hunt for it. One important limit holds it back from S tier: lost bed HP is gone for good, and each new puncture leaves the bed with a shorter window before it deflates again.

Tip: a bed can take several punctures at once and deflate much faster as a result. Every one of those punctures needs to be mended with tape to keep the bed in play, so respond to attacks quickly rather than patching one hole at a time.

B tier: Water Balloon for situational burst

Water Balloon Bedwars

Water Balloons are an alternative way to soak enemies, but they sit in the middle of the list because they take more setup and carry real risk. You do not start with them. They spawn randomly across the map, and once you pick one up you still need to fill it at a water tank, the same way you fill the pistol.

To use one, toss a filled balloon at an enemy and they get soaked. Watch your aim, because friendly fire applies and a stray throw can soak your own teammates. Treat balloons as opportunistic extra damage when you find one, not as your primary plan.

C tier: Giant Needle, beds only

The Giant Needle replaces your sword and is added to your inventory automatically, but its job is narrow, which keeps it at the bottom. You use it to puncture an enemy’s inflatable bed instead of hacking at it with an axe. Each puncture starts the deflation, and if the enemy does nothing the bed loses all of its HP and stops them from respawning.

The key limitation is that the needle cannot be used in melee, even though it looks like a melee weapon and takes the sword’s slot. It does nothing in a player fight. If you run into someone who has slipped a real sword into a Summer Event match by exploiting a bug, you cannot trade blows with them. Keep your distance and chip them down with the water pistol or a ranged kit instead.

Drying off and reversing soak damage

One mechanic shapes how every item above performs. Getting soaked is not permanent. Stand in the sun for a few seconds and you begin drying off, fully undoing the effect of being hit. The more soaked you are, the longer you have to wait to dry out completely.

You can still move while drying, but only in sunlight. Step into shade and the process stops until you walk back into the sun. That single rule is why sustained pressure with the Water Pistol beats one-off Water Balloon throws, and why holding a water tank near contested ground gives you and your team a strong outpost for repeated fights.
