Bloodhound is no longer the same Legend you learned back at launch. Season 30 of Apex Legends, titled Marked, rebuilds almost every part of the tracker’s kit. The passive, tactical, ultimate, and upgrade perks have all been changed, and the old Beast of the Hunt frenzy is gone entirely. What replaces it leans hard into team play instead of solo aggression.
Quick answer: Bloodhound now leaves-glowing enemy trails on the passive, scans for a full 3 seconds followed by four snapshot reveals on the tactical, and deploys a new ultimate, Allfather’s Cloak, that hides your whole squad with bonus speed and threat vision. You play it the same way you always did, but the ultimate is now something you coordinate with teammates rather than press for yourself.

New passive: glowing trails and easier white ravens
The biggest quality-of-life shift is how you follow enemies between fights. Bloodhound now sees a red trail near fresh enemy clues that points you toward where they went. It works like the red footsteps the old Beast of the Hunt ultimate used to show, except it is baked into the base kit.
To cut down on screen clutter, most clue types are gone. Only traversal clues and eliminations remain, and trails now disappear when their owner dies, with the Player Killed clue being the one exception. Black raven spawns were also adjusted so they appear more reliably.
White ravens got a real upgrade too. They now fly up to 400m, a big jump from the old 190m baseline (and even beyond the 380m you used to get with the Raven’s Flight perk). You can also trigger them from a distance now. Just look at a white raven for a short moment and it takes off, so you no longer need to walk up and interact with it.

Add to Google Preferences →Reworked tactical: longer scan plus four snapshots
The iconic scan still highlights nearby enemies, but it keeps them visible for far longer. The tactical now performs a full-body scan for 3 seconds. Previously that was a 2-second full-body scan followed by 2 seconds of a weaker diamond scan.
Once the full-body scan ends, the ability fires off four “snapshot” scans, each spaced 1.5 seconds apart. That extended window makes it much harder for a lone enemy to slip away after you catch them, since your squad keeps getting position updates.
The cooldown refund tied to white ravens also changed. If a scan hits a white raven and at least one enemy, you no longer get a partial cooldown refund. If a scan hits a white raven and no enemies at all, it still refunds the full cooldown.
Allfather’s Cloak: the new team ultimate
This is the headline change. Allfather’s Cloak replaces Beast of the Hunt completely. Instead of buffing only Bloodhound, you throw down a device that cloaks anyone who enters its range. While cloaked, players gain 20% increased movement speed and threat vision.
The cloaking field itself lasts 8 seconds. After a player leaves that area, their cloak carries for another 12 seconds. It is not full invisibility, though. Cloaked teammates show a faint blue shimmer, and there is an audio cue that warns nearby enemies the tech is active.
The cloak breaks the moment a player takes damage, fires a weapon, or uses most abilities. The key exception is Bloodhound. Bloodhound can use their own abilities without breaking the cloak, so you can keep scanning while your squad stays hidden.
| Allfather’s Cloak | Value |
|---|---|
| Cloaking area duration | 8 seconds |
| Cloak after leaving area | 12 seconds |
| Movement speed bonus | +20% |
| Extra vision | Threat vision while cloaked |
| Breaks on | Taking damage, firing, most abilities |
| Bloodhound’s abilities | Do not break the cloak |

Bloodhound upgrade perks in Season 30
The EVO upgrade tree was reshaped around the new kit. Taste of Blood is gone, and Raven’s Flight was buffed and folded into the base kit rather than sitting as an option. The remaining perks push you toward scouting, team support, or aggressive re-engages.
| Upgrade | Effect |
|---|---|
| Hidden Sight (Level 2) | Using the ult refreshes your tactical, and using the tactical while cloaked hides its visual effect from enemies. |
| Bird’s Eye | White ravens split and fly to the two nearest enemies on different squads. |
| True Predator (Level 3) | Shooting temporarily interrupts your cloak instead of breaking it, letting you recloak after firing. |

How to play the new Bloodhound
The reason for all of this is simple. Bloodhound had low pick rates in mid-to-high tier lobbies, roughly above Gold, so the rework aims to make the Legend more appealing without erasing what made them recognizable. You can still play as a front-line tracker who scans and chases.
Start engagements with the passive doing the legwork. Follow the red trails to fresh enemy positions, and flick your view onto white ravens to send them scouting from long range. When you do commit, the tactical now gives your team a much clearer, longer read on where enemies are, thanks to the 3-second body scan and the four follow-up snapshots.
The real change in habit is the ultimate. Allfather’s Cloak is a squad tool, not a personal power spike, so timing matters. Drop it before a rotation across open ground, or use it to reposition and disengage when a fight turns. Because the cloak breaks on damage or firing, treat it as a movement and repositioning window rather than a way to push straight into a team. Note that True Predator changes this once you unlock it, letting you fire and slip back under cover instead of losing the cloak outright.
Season 30 goes live on Tuesday, August 4, with the update rolling out at 10:00 AM PT (6:00 PM BST) across all platforms at the same time. Once you are in, the fastest way to feel the difference is to run the cloak with your squad and see how much ground you can cover before anyone notices the shimmer.
