Blox Fruits: How to Solve the Pirate Village Windmill Secret in Sea 1

Cut all five rigging ropes on the Pirate Village windmill, then collect the Island Secret reward from the quest NPC at the docks.

Cut all five rigging ropes on the Pirate Village windmill, then collect the Island Secret reward from the quest NPC at the docks.

The giant windmill above the square in Pirate Village no longer turns, and that is deliberate. It is one of the Island Secrets added to the First Sea in Update 30, and freeing it is a short puzzle that comes down to finding five rope points and slicing each one.

Quick answer: Equip any sword, climb to the windmill in the centre of Pirate Village, and hit all five rigging ropes tied to the blades. The counter runs from “Rigging cut (1/5)” to “Rigging cut (5/5)”, the blades start spinning, and you then claim the reward from the quest NPC standing near the docks.

What you need before starting the windmill puzzle

There is no level gate, no item to collect, and no NPC you have to talk to first. The only hard requirement is a cutting weapon. Fruit moves, guns, and fighting styles do not sever the rigging, so bring a sword — anything from a starter blade to a Dark Blade works the same way here.

How to cut the five windmill ropes in Pirate Village

Dock at Pirate Village and walk in from the port on the southern side of the island. Equip your sword before you set off so you are not fumbling through the hotbar on a rooftop later.

Head to the raised area above the town square and find the windmill in the centre of the village. Approaching it triggers a line of dialogue — “Hm… I could probably cut these ropes!” — which confirms you are in the right spot and that the puzzle is active.
Climb the buildings beside the windmill to get level with the blades. The timber frames around the square give you enough footing to jump up without any movement ability, though an air jump makes it quicker.

Work around the roofline so you can see the whole windmill. The ropes are tied at separate points across the sails and frame, so circling the structure is faster than trying to reach every one from a single angle.

Swing at each rope point in turn. Every successful hit posts a “Rigging cut” notification with a running count, so you always know how many are left rather than guessing.

Cut the fifth and final rope. The whole sequence takes well under a minute once you know where the ropes sit, and there is no timer forcing you to rush.

How to confirm the windmill secret completed

Two things happen at once when the last rope goes. The system message “The windmill blades spin freely once more!” appears, and the blades physically start turning above the square. If the blades are still frozen, you have missed a rope — check the last count you saw and look for the remaining tie-off point.

Note: the counter only moves on a clean sword hit against a rope point. Damage from fruit abilities, guns, or melee splashing nearby will not advance it, which is the usual reason players get stuck at three or four of five.

Claiming the reward and the Island Secret star

Freeing the windmill does not hand you anything on the spot. Walk back down to the docks and speak to the quest NPC standing there to collect the payout for the secret.

Each completed Island Secret awards one star, and the extra levels handed out by island quest givers can push you past the normal cap — Update 30 raised the ceiling to Level 3000 for players working through these objectives. Collecting all 40 stars across the First Sea’s 16 islands unlocks the teleporter in Middle Town, with islands becoming teleport destinations as you clear their secrets.

The windmill is one of three secrets on Pirate Village, so it is worth clearing the tavern fight against the three Tavern Pirates while you are on the island rather than sailing back later for a single star.
