Blox Fruits Update 30: How to Complete the Fountain City 3-Star Puzzles

Every requirement, trigger, and boss for the three Fountain City secrets, plus how to confirm each star saved.

Every requirement, trigger, and boss for the three Fountain City secrets, plus how to confirm each star saved.

Fountain City is the last island in the First Sea, and after the Update 30 rework it hides three secrets instead of just a boss and a quest board. Clear all three and the island flips to a 3-star completion on the new world map. The three tasks are very different from one another: one is a repair puzzle at the top of the fountain, one is a hidden sewer run with a mini-boss, and one is a timed awakened boss fight that only starts when the game says so.

Quick answer: Hit the leaking pipes on the fountain tower until they turn green and ride the ship down, lift the crane near the houses to open the sewers and kill Megalo Brute, then wait for the junkyard magnet event, charge the ground wires with basic melee hits, and defeat Cyborg (Awakened) — returning to the Quest Giver after each one to claim the star.

What you need before starting the Fountain City secrets

The world map lists Fountain Island at a recommended Lv. 2860, which reflects the secret content rather than the old Galley Pirate grind. You can physically reach the island far earlier, but the awakened boss and the sewer waves are tuned for a late First Sea build with a real sword and fighting style. You’ll also need a fighting style equipped for the third puzzle, since one step refuses to accept fruit or sword damage.

IslandFountain City, final island of the First Sea
Recommended levelLv. 2860 (map listing for the secrets)
Quest NPCFreezeburg Quest Giver, near the docks
Bosses involvedMegalo Brute [Lv. 707], Cyborg (Awakened) [Lv. 675]
Must have equippedA sword or fruit for pipes, a fighting style for the wires

If Fountain City isn’t showing on your world map yet, the map itself unlocks after you finish any secret anywhere in the First Sea. You can sail there manually in Blox Fruits in the meantime.

Star 1: Repair the fountain pipes and launch the ship

Fly or climb to the top of the giant fountain tower in the middle of the island. There’s a ship wedged into the upper fountain basin, and a run of pipes around the structure feeding it water.
Find every pipe that’s spraying water. Broken sections are obvious — they leak in a visible jet rather than sitting quiet.
Hit each leaking pipe with a skill until it stops leaking and turns green. A sword move, a fruit move, or a fighting style hit all register here. Green means that pipe is done; move to the next one and don’t stop until nothing on the tower is spraying.
Board the ship sitting in the fountain. With the pipes sealed, the water pressure lifts it and it launches, carrying you off the tower.
Head back to the Quest Giver on the ground and talk to them to claim the first star.

Star 2: Lift the crane, clear the sewers, and beat Megalo Brute

Starting from the Quest Giver, walk straight past four houses. You’re looking for a small tower crane parked next to a doorway.
Stand on the crane’s plank and choose the Lift Crane prompt. The platform rises and exposes the sewer grate underneath it.

Drop into the sewers and push through the tunnels. Enemy waves spawn as you advance, and some paths are sealed behind breakable walls — clear the mobs, break the walls, and keep moving forward.
At the end of the tunnels you’ll meet Megalo Brute [Lv. 707]. It’s a straight fight with no gimmick, so bring a build that can actually hold up in melee range.

The Megalo Brute health bar appears once the boss is engaged at the end of the sewer tunnels.
Once the boss is down, a chest spawns in the room. Open it — that both awards the loot and teleports you back to the surface.
Return to the Quest Giver and speak to them for the second star.

Star 3: Charge the junkyard wires and defeat Cyborg (Awakened)

This is the only Fountain City secret you can’t force. The awakened boss rotates around the First Sea, and the Secrets Master NPC is the one who tells you when it’s Fountain City’s turn.

Find the Secrets Master standing on the balcony of the large building and pick the “Which boss stirs next?” dialogue option. If the answer names Fountain City, the NPC gives you a rough countdown — around two minutes — and tells you to be standing there when it happens. If it names a different island, you’ll have to wait for the rotation to come back around.

Go to the junkyard area and wait there. Two on-screen messages mark the trigger — the fountain machinery going silent and rebooting, then the junkyard being magnetized by lightning.
When Cyborg (Awakened) [Lv. 675] appears, look at the ground rather than the boss. Exposed wires are running through the junkyard floor and they need to be activated before the fight can be won.
Hit each exposed wire with basic fighting style attacks — plain fist M1s — until it turns green. This is the step that trips people up, because fruit and sword moves are not what the wires respond to.

With the wires charged, the boss eats a fruit and drops out of its invulnerable state. Burn it down while the window is open.
Spin the reward wheel that appears after the kill. The Spinner can land on Common Scroll, Rare Scroll, Legendary Scroll, Fruit Box, or 20K Money.

Walk back to the Quest Giver one last time and claim the third star.

How to confirm each star registered

Finishing the objective is not the same as banking it. Each secret only counts once you have talked to the Quest Giver afterwards and taken the reward dialogue — that’s the moment the star is added. Open the world map and check Fountain Island’s star count if you’re unsure which ones you’ve already handed in.

After the third hand-in you’ll get a FOUNTAIN CITY COMPLETED banner on screen, and the island reads as fully cleared on the map. That’s your confirmation all three are saved.

Why a Fountain City puzzle fails to trigger

  • A pipe is still leaking. The ship will not launch until every broken pipe on the tower has turned green.
  • You skipped the ship. Sealing the pipes alone doesn’t finish the first secret — you have to be on board when it launches.
  • You left the sewers without opening the chest. The chest is the exit and the completion trigger for the second secret.
  • You’re hitting the junkyard wires with fruit or sword moves. Only basic fighting style attacks charge them.
  • The Secrets Master named a different island. The awakened boss won’t spawn at Fountain City until the rotation points there.
  • You weren’t standing in the junkyard when the timer ran out. The NPC’s warning is literal — be in the area for the spawn.
  • You never returned to the Quest Giver. No hand-in, no star.

Stars are the currency behind Update 30’s secret levels, which are how you push past the old 2,800 grinding cap toward the new 3,000 ceiling. There are 40 secrets scattered across the 16 First Sea islands, and clearing an island’s full set also feeds into the teleporter setup in Middle Town.

The fastest run is to do the pipes and the sewers back-to-back, since neither is on a timer, then park yourself near the Secrets Master and check the rotation. Fountain City’s third star is entirely dependent on that spawn window, so everything else is best cleared while you wait for it.
