Gloomstone is in a chest high in the Sanctuary of Solitude, a short grapple climb from the Master's Quarters Mirror of Life.

Gloomstone is in a chest high in the Sanctuary of Solitude, a short grapple climb from the Master’s Quarters Mirror of Life.

In Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, Gloomstone is a Relic that alerts Rose to nearby secrets while equipped. A chest in Dracula’s Castle holds it, close to the end of the ascent to the Master’s Quarters. From the closest save point, reaching the chest takes about a minute if you can grapple and wall-jump.

Quick answer: Start at the Mirror of Life in Master’s Quarters and head right into the Sanctuary of Solitude. Grapple up to the upper-right ledge and open the chest by the red stained-glass window.

How to get Gloomstone in the Sanctuary of Solitude

The chest sits on an elevated balcony on the right side of the Sanctuary of Solitude. The Sanctuary is a tall hall in the Master’s Quarters. You need the grappling line and wall jumps to reach it, so you can’t get there by walking along the floor.

Travel to the Mirror of Life inside the Master’s Quarters. This save and warp point is your starting position, and it’s the fastest way back if you fall partway up the hall.

Leave the mirror chamber through its right side. This takes you straight into the Sanctuary of Solitude, a tall vertical hall.
Grapple onto the glowing golden rings that hang in the air. Chain them together to gain height instead of dropping back to the floor.

Confirming you picked up Gloomstone

When you open the chest, an item card titled GLOOMSTONE appears with its effect and description. The card includes a “HOLD TO EQUIP” prompt, so you can slot it in right away or dismiss the card with “CONTINUE.” If you open the map afterward, the chest’s room in the Sanctuary of Solitude now shows as collected.

What Gloomstone does once equipped

Gloomstone alerts you whenever Rose is close to a concealed secret, making it handy for checking sections of the map you haven’t searched completely. For its effect to work, Rose must equip it in one of her 3 Relic slots; kept in her inventory, it does nothing.

Master’s Quarters districts in Dracula’s Castle

Master’s Quarters is one of the final areas in Dracula’s Castle. It’s also where the main objective, “Find Dracula and defeat him,” leads. The districts below are recorded under the area, which helps when you’re reading the map on the way to the Sanctuary of Solitude.

Despite its name, Master’s Quarters Approach is listed under the Clock Tower area. That fits the map, which places the Clock Tower right next to the Master’s Quarters. Dracula is tied to two districts, Castle Rooftops and Court of the Night. The Sanctuary of Solitude has no boss listed, so you can grab Gloomstone without a fight standing between you and the chest.
