Within The Underpass Fault, Control Resonant becomes a movement-only sequence rather than a firefight. Dylan Faden enters a quiet astral emptiness of hovering black rocks and luminous gold leaves. From there, trail the pair of radiant children. “Guide the Light-Projected Children” is a sub-objective of “Find Jesse and Talk to Her,” and completion triggers as soon as you step into the correct illuminated area.

Quick answer: Follow the leaf path to the wall with two giant shadows, wait for Dylan’s lines, then chase the glowing child projections across the floating platforms and step into the light between them.

What you need before the objective appears

This section only unlocks once the Jesse chain has progressed far enough. The Underpass Fault is the third Fault, and the game soft-blocks it until you have cleared an earlier one.

  • Shift, earned by completing The Incursion Fault.
  • Reach, earned by completing The Subway Fault in the Evacuation Zone.
  • Access to the Underpass through Recursions and Iterations, near the island of orange pipes.
  • Entry into the fault itself, followed by the conversation with Jesse.

Travelling in through The Spire fast travel point cuts out a long walk back through the Underpass.

Where this objective sits in The Underpass Fault

OrderObjective
1Examine Jesse’s vision on the island formed by orange pipes.
2Enter the fault
3Find Jesse and talk to her
4Guide the light-projected children
5Reunite young Dylan and Jesse
6Help Jesse complete the ritual

The quest name and both objectives stay pinned in the top-left HUD with yellow diamond waypoint markers, so if you lose your bearings mid-jump, that corner tells you which of the two you are chasing.

How to guide the light-projected children

This is pure traversal. The projections never fight back and never move faster than you can climb. They simply relocate each time Dylan gets close, dragging him further along the broken terrain.

From where the objective begins, run straight along the main path of black stone carpeted in glowing yellow leaves. The route ahead is framed by small trees and a lit wall in the distance, so ignore the drop-offs on either side and keep moving forward.

Walk up to the wall where two towering human shadows are cast. Standing close triggers Dylan’s dialogue, including the lines “This is where it happened” and “I have to remember,” and the shadows dissolve once he finishes speaking.
First Projection Interaction00:32First Projection Interaction

Turn around. The children reappear across the chasm as two bright yellow silhouettes standing side by side on another surface. They are the brightest thing in the void, so they are easy to spot once you are facing the right way.
Following the Projections00:43Following the Projections

Jump and climb your way across the elevated stone blocks toward them. The leaf cover marks which surfaces are solid ground, so use the golden patches as your landing points rather than guessing at bare rock.
Platforming to Second Position01:04Platforming to Second Position
Leaf-covered ledges mark the safe landing spots between the floating blocks. Shown at 01:04 in Trophy Tom’s video. Image: Remedy Entertainment
Expect the projections to move again as you close the gap. Each time they shift, scan the surrounding walls and pillars for the glow, then leap the next set of gaps toward their new position. Repeat this until they stop at the top of the stone structure.
Final Traverse01:15Final Traverse
The final stretch is a narrow ledge leading up to the children's last position. Shown at 01:15 in Trophy Tom’s video. Image: Remedy Entertainment
Walk directly into the bright gap between the two standing figures. There is no prompt to press and no interaction button here, so keep moving into the light rather than stopping in front of it.
Objective Completion01:27Objective Completion

How to confirm the objective cleared

Stepping into the light between the two figures triggers the next scripted sequence immediately. The clearest confirmation is the top-left HUD, where “Guide the light-projected children” drops away and “Reunite young Dylan and Jesse” takes its place as the active objective.

If the objective text has not changed, you have not made physical contact with the lit space yet. The projections tend to sit slightly apart from each other at their final stop, so aim for the middle rather than either silhouette.

From there, the fault wraps up quickly. You reunite the younger versions of Dylan and Jesse, help Jesse finish the ritual, and then head back out to resume Recursions and Iterations in the Underpass. Unlike the Incursion and Subway Faults, this one does not hand over a new traversal ability, so nothing on your build changes when you leave.
