Pre-orders and the pre-order bonus

Pre-orders are open now. They started on the PlayStation Store at 3:00 PM UTC on September 3rd, with Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store following at 9:00 PM UTC the same day.

Ordering early grants a cosmetic bonus. Kliff and Oongka receive the Charter’s Diving Set, and Damiane receives the Charter’s Light Diving Set. Full DLC details are available on the official Charting the Unknown page.

What Charting the Unknown adds

The expansion acts as a sequel to the main campaign. Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane set out across Pywel to find their purpose as new turmoil unfolds around them, and the DLC adds a new region to the map along with a fresh set of story missions.

Much of the new content leans into maritime play. You can captain a pirate-style ship for naval combat, dive and explore underwater, and even use a shark as an underwater lift. New martial arts skills join the mix as well, including the ability to run across water.

Base-building expands too. You gain more control over the Greymane camp, can assign NPCs to specific jobs, and can construct a beachside home. Trailers also showed homesteading touches such as NPCs cooking and what appears to be a marriage proposal and romance feature.

On the combat side, expect larger threats and more gear. The reveal showed multiple massive bosses, including dragons and mechs, plus new weapons and armor kits. New mounts appear as well, among them a dragon mount.

Crimson Desert launched in March and has sold more than 6 million copies worldwide, and Pearl Abyss has kept the game busy since then with narrative patches, cross-save support, and a free Enhanced upgrade that bundled prior updates and added new skills. Charting the Unknown is the studio’s first paid add-on, and with the date now fixed for October 15th, the story of Pywel continues in about six weeks.
