Crimson Desert Enhanced gives Kliff a way to cross rivers and lakes without wading through them. The ability is called Water Stride, and once it is active you can sprint straight across open water instead of swimming. It saves time on long crossings, but it runs on stamina and only lasts while you have points to spend.
Quick answer: Unlock Water Stride in the Spirit Skill (Green Skill) section using Abyss Artifacts, with Double Jump Level 2 already learned. Then move onto the water’s edge and hold sprint (LShift on PC, A on Xbox, X on PlayStation) to run across the surface.
Requirements to unlock Water Stride
Water Stride sits in the Spirit Skill tree, shown as the Green Skill section. You cannot pick it up at the very start. You need to reach it in the skill tree, and one condition gates it completely.
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Skill tree | Spirit Skill (Green Skill) section |
| Prerequisite skill | Double Jump Level 2 must be unlocked first |
| Resource needed | Enough Abyss Artifacts to purchase the skill |
| Progress | Available after advancing a short way into the game |
Abyss Artifacts come from quests, combat, and exploration, so keep collecting them as you play. Without Double Jump Level 2, the Water Stride node stays locked no matter how many artifacts you hold.

You know it worked when Kliff stays on top of the water and moves at running speed instead of dropping into a swimming animation.
Stamina cost and duration limit
Water Stride is not unlimited. Each second of sprinting on water drains 10 stamina points, so long crossings burn through your reserves quickly. When stamina runs out, Kliff drops into the water and starts swimming.
Plan crossings around the width of the water. Short and medium spans are easy to clear in a single sprint, while very wide stretches may leave you finishing the last part by swimming. This still beats searching for a bridge or swimming the entire distance, which takes noticeably longer.
Other Kliff skills added in the Enhanced version
Water Stride arrived alongside seven other new abilities for playable characters in the Enhanced version. Two of the notable additions are Enhance Flight and Ascending Force Palm, which expand Kliff’s movement and combat options further.
If you are prioritizing traversal, Water Stride pairs naturally with the game’s other movement upgrades, since Double Jump Level 2 is already a requirement for it. Keep banking Abyss Artifacts so you can pick up the rest of these skills as they open up.
