Cryo Traveler Release Date, Kit, and Constellations in Genshin Impact

The Cryo Traveler is expected to arrive with the Snezhnaya region in Version 7.0, alongside a leaked Stellar-Conduct kit.

The Cryo Traveler completes the main protagonist’s elemental set, leaving only the seventh and final vision for Aether or Lumine to claim. The unlock is tied to Snezhnaya, the snowbound nation ruled by the Cryo Archon, and an early version of the kit has surfaced alongside a sword weapon type and a Stellar-Conduct reaction shared with other Snezhnaya characters.

Quick answer: The Cryo Traveler is expected to become playable in Genshin Impact Version 7.0, the update that opens the Snezhnaya region, estimated around August 12, 2026. No official release date has been confirmed yet, so treat that window as unconfirmed.

Cryo Traveler release date and current status

Status: Window (unconfirmed). The Traveler historically gains a new element when a new region opens, with Nod-Krai being the only exception so far. Cryo follows that same pattern, which points to Version 7.0 and the launch of Snezhnaya as the moment the Cryo Traveler becomes playable.

Version 7.0 is projected to land around August 12, 2026. Because the Cryo Archon is set to feature in the Snezhnaya story from the start, the Traveler is likely to receive their Cryo powers early in that arc, just as the Pyro vision was tied directly to Natlan’s main quest. The exact day and time have not been officially announced, so the date should be treated as a strong estimate rather than a fixed schedule.

Note: As a Traveler element, the Cryo kit and all of its constellations are free for every player. There is no banner to pull and no Primogem cost involved once the element is unlocked in the story.

The Cryo Traveler keeps the sword and continues to ground their playstyle in the new Snezhnaya mechanic. Like Sandrone and Alyosha, the kit revolves around the Stellar-Conduct reaction, so the Traveler is designed to slot into the region’s reaction-based teams rather than fight as an isolated unit.

Cryo Traveler kit: skill, burst, and passives

The following kit is an early leaked build, so individual values and effects are likely to change before launch. The structure centers on the Frigid Froststar summon, a Frostglow stacking mechanic, and an Elemental Burst that scales with how many stacks you have built.

Elemental Skill

The Traveler thrusts the sword forward and releases a freezing mist that deals Cryo damage to enemies ahead, then summons a Frigid Froststar beside the active character.

  • Frigid Froststar: Follows the active character and periodically fires ice crystals at nearby enemies for Cryo damage.
  • Radiance: Stellar-Conduct: Instead of firing on its own timer, the Froststar fires an ice crystal whenever the Traveler’s Normal, Charged, or Plunging Attack hits an enemy, performing a coordinated attack. Each crystal hit grants 1 stack of Frostglow, up to 8 stacks, which clear 30 seconds after leaving combat.
  • Frostglow: Gained from ice crystal hits or from the special Charged Attack: Frostfreeze. Stacks up to 8 and feeds directly into the Burst.

Elemental Burst: Frozen Spear

The Traveler condenses Cryo into a spear and hurls it, dealing multiple instances of Cryo damage. Casting consumes all Frostglow stacks to raise the Burst’s damage, and consuming a full 8 stacks adds extra hits to the spear. Under Radiance: Stellar-Flare, the Burst’s damage is instead counted as Stellar-Flare reaction damage.

Ascension passives

PassiveEffect
Self-Honed FrostWhile Frigid Froststar is active under Stellar-Conduct, Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attacks convert to Cryo damage that cannot be overridden, with damage increased by 80% of the Traveler’s ATK.
Crystal-Clear FrostGrants Elemental Mastery equal to 8% of the Traveler’s ATK, up to 160 EM.
Layers of a Foreign LandEach element the Traveler has resonated with adds an enhancement. Nearby Stellar-Conduct or Stellar-Swirl damage grants 1 Frozen Blade stack every 2 seconds, up to 3. At 3 stacks, a Charged Attack consumes them and becomes Charged Attack: Frostfreeze.
Charged Attack: FrostfreezeDeals increased Cryo damage equal to 14% of the Traveler’s ATK and grants 2 Frostglow stacks. Usable once every 15 seconds; the Self-Honed Frost bonus does not apply to it.
Starblessing: Everchanging Ice MirrorInside a Polestar Field, or for 8 seconds after a Stellar-Swirl reaction, the Traveler enters Radiance: Stellar-Conduct or Stellar-Swirl. Party Superconduct and Cryo Swirl become Stellar-Conduct and Stellar-Swirl. Every 100 ATK raises the base damage of those reactions by 0.35%, up to 7%, for all party members.

Cryo Traveler constellations

The leaked constellations lean into energy generation, Elemental Mastery, and party-wide Stellar-Flare damage. As with the kit, these values are early and may shift before release.

ConstellationEffect
C1Dealing Stellar-Flare reaction damage restores 5 Elemental Energy, once every 0.5 seconds.
C2After an ice crystal hits an enemy, the active character gains 60 Elemental Mastery for 5 seconds. If that character triggers a Stellar Reaction or deals Stellar-Flare reaction damage, the bonus becomes 120 EM for the remaining duration.
C4Increases Frigid Froststar’s duration by 25%.
C6When casting Frozen Spear, each Frostglow stack consumed increases other party members’ Stellar-Flare reaction damage by 5%, up to 40%, for 15 seconds.

How you unlock the Cryo Traveler

You do not pull for the Cryo element. Following the established pattern, the Traveler attunes to Cryo by progressing through Snezhnaya’s main story and interacting with the region’s Statue of the Seven. Once the element is unlocked, you can swap to it from any Statue of the Seven, and every constellation level is awarded for free over time rather than through Wishes.

You will know the element is active when the Traveler’s vision and ability set switch to Cryo at the Statue, and a Cryo skill and burst appear on your combat bar. Until Version 7.0 goes live and the Snezhnaya quest is available, the Cryo element cannot be obtained by any method, so any earlier claim should be treated as inaccurate.
