Diablo 4 Season 15: How to Level a Warlock Fast with Blazing Scream

The skills, Soul Shards, Mercenaries, and gear that carry a Warlock to level 70 in a few hours.

The skills, Soul Shards, Mercenaries, and gear that carry a Warlock to level 70 in a few hours.

Warlock is one of the strongest classes to bring into Season 15, and reaching endgame no longer takes long. A single Blazing Scream leveling setup, built around entering Demonform and keeping it active, pushes you to level 70 in a matter of hours. The plan is simple: summon a demon to trigger Demonform, then spam a screaming demon skull to hold it and clear packs.

Quick answer: Use Summon Abodian to enter Demonform, then keep it up by hitting enemies with Blazing Scream. Swap to the Orbital Scream upgrade at level 15 so the skull orbits you and refreshes Demonform automatically.

Skill bar and upgrades for the Blazing Scream Warlock

These six skills form the whole leveling kit. Blazing Scream is your damage, Summon Abodian is your Demonform trigger, and the rest keep enemies grouped and keep you alive between casts.

SkillUpgrades
Blazing ScreamOrbital Scream, Damage, Impact Velocity
Terror SwarmPull, Vulnerable, Searing Infestation
Summon Abodian
Dark PrisonChain Aura, Cooldown Reduction, Fortify
Nether StepExtra Charge, Gloomwalker, Movement Speed
Profane SentinelSingle Target Damage, Focus Glare, Narrow Blast

Blazing Scream consumes Wrath to launch a giant demon skull. Early on you generate that Wrath with Molten Bomb, roughly up to level 15. Terror Swarm’s Pull effect gathers enemies into a tight cluster, which lets the orbiting skull chew through them far more efficiently.

The single biggest power spike is Orbital Scream at level 15. Instead of firing the skull in one direction, it circles your character, damages nearby enemies on its own, and extends Demonform whenever it hits something.

The leveling loop, step by step

Command Abodian to enter Demonform. By default it lasts only a short time, so you need the next steps to keep it going.
Cast Blazing Scream and Terror Swarm on the pack. As long as you keep hitting enemies with Blazing Scream, Demonform stays active and you shred through everything in front of you.
When Demonform drops, fall back on Dark Prison and Profane Sentinel as defensive skills until your main loop is ready again. Dark Prison’s Chain Aura reduces incoming damage and keeps enemies close.
Use Nether Step to escape danger and to sprint between packs. Its extra charge and movement speed keep your pace high, which matters because Impact Velocity ties Blazing Scream’s damage to your Movement Speed.

After level 15, the loop simplifies. Keep the Orbital Scream skull spinning, briefly channel Blazing Scream to refresh its duration and speed it up, and Nether Step to the next group. Wrath generation stops mattering much once the skull is doing the work.

Soul Shard and Fragment setup

Start by binding the Vanguard Shard to activate Summon Abodian, then combine it with the Warden Fragment. This fragment gives Hellfire Demonology skills 30% more damage and consumes 0.4 Dominance each second for every Close Hellfire Demonology summon, increasing their duration. Together, these effects keep your demon active while your damage continues to rise as you level.

Talismans: Practiced Technique set

The Talisman system adds Seals and Charms that grant passive effects and set bonuses. While leveling, prioritize the Practiced Technique set. Slotting three of the same type grants extra Gold Find and Bonus Kill Experience that scale with your character level, which speeds up the climb directly.

You do not need specific passive stats to make this work. If you want the strongest rolls, hunt for anything that reads “Ranks to Demonology/Hellfire Skills.”

Best Mercenaries for a leveling Warlock

Subo is the top pick in the Hired Mercenary slot. He grants bonus movement speed and additional critical strike damage, two of the most useful leveling stats. Run Wiretap with Ready at Hand and Cover Fire with Opening Fire.

Choose Aldkin with Field of Languish for the Reinforcement slot; Field of Languish reduces enemy damage by 20%. Aldkin serves only as a defensive option, so leave him out once your equipment provides enough survivability.

Stats and gear priorities

Because Impact Velocity scales Blazing Scream with your speed, Movement Speed is exceptionally valuable here, improving both your pace and your damage. Willpower comes next as the Warlock’s primary attribute, followed by survivability stats. Always upgrade your weapon first, since its base damage feeds every other calculation.

  • Movement Speed (boots and amulet especially)
  • Willpower
  • Maximum Life
  • Damage and Attack Speed
  • Cooldown Reduction and Critical Strike Chance

Ranks to Blazing Scream on gloves are a strong find if you come across them. You do not need perfect items while leveling, so replace gear often and temper defensive stats such as Resistances, Life, and Armor into any gaps.

Uniques and Aspects worth grabbing

This build does not depend on any single drop. Decent gear does the heavy lifting to level 70. That said, a few items make the run noticeably smoother if they show up.

Uniques

  • Leoric’s Crown — a helmet that counts as jewelry, letting you socket gems like Splinter of Hellfire and Splinter of the Black Soulstone.
  • Stone of Jordan — helps you stack resistances by focusing on a single type.
  • You can craft Stealth yourself; this chest provides resource generation and movement speed, along with damage reduction and attack speed.

Aspects

  • Demonic Aspect — damage dealt by Demonology skills raises the damage of other skills that share their archetype.
  • Aspect of Impetus — grants extra movement speed when you are near your summoned demons.
  • Crushing Aspect — Fortify increases your damage.
  • Hellbent Commander Aspect — increases the damage your summons deal.

You’re ready for early endgame

You know the setup is working when Demonform stays lit almost constantly, packs melt as the orbiting skull sweeps through them, and you are hopping between groups with Nether Step instead of stopping to fight. Once you hit level 70, you can carry this same Blazing Scream core straight into an endgame build and start pushing early Torment difficulties.
