DOORS The Candy Vault: Every Candy and What It Does

Where all five candies and the kitchen appetizers sit in Abe's manor, and what changes on screen after you eat each one.

Where all five candies and the kitchen appetizers sit in Abe’s manor, and what changes on screen after you eat each one.

Abe’s manor in DOORS hides candy all over the place. The Candy Vault is the game’s Halloween floor for The Hollow event. After Abe’s tour, your objectives read “Break into The Candy Vault” and “Explore Abe’s Manor ( OPTIONAL )”. Abe also mentions that the Butler left appetizers around the house for you to find.

Quick answer: Candies sit on tables, benches and in drawers. Press E to grab one (it shows as “???” in slot 1), then left click to eat it and see its name banner. None gives candy corn.

How to pick up and eat candy in DOORS

Every candy works the same way. You can pick up candy with E and eat it with left click.

Aim directly at a candy. When the white hand icon and E prompt appear, press E to collect it. If the candy is in a drawer, face the drawer’s front and press E to open it first.

Check hotbar slot 1. The candy lands there, and a name appears above the hotbar. For a kind you haven’t eaten yet, that name reads “???”.

Use the left mouse button to consume the candy. Its name appears briefly in a banner at the screen’s top centre, for example “DECENT CANDY”.

After we had eaten one NOTHING?, the second red candy we picked up read “Nothing?” in the hotbar instead of “???”.

Where every candy is in Abe’s manor

There are five kinds of candy around the house, plus the Butler’s appetizer plates in the kitchen.

The red NOTHING? candy is in the nightstand drawer alongside a letter sealed with red wax. The other one is on the desk beside the sofa. COUGH DROP is on the far wall, across from the foot of the bed.

The letter, pencil, papers and cup in the drawers and on the tables have no prompt, but gold can be collected. Opening a nightstand drawer awards 5 gold; a coin pile on an upstairs desk gives 10 gold and makes a gold counter appear next to candy corn.

What each candy does when you eat it

Each candy triggers a banner, and some also alter the screen. They don’t increase your candy corn total: the counter in the top right remains at 0.

Appetizer plate

Press E to take the entire plate into slot 1; the hints “X DROP ITEM” and “INSPECT ITEM” then appear. Left click to eat it. The plate vanishes, leaving a white “>>” icon at the screen’s bottom left. We did not measure what the icon does.

LIFE SAVER

Eating the crescent moon candy from the foyer bench shows the “LIFE SAVER” banner and tints the whole screen blue for a few seconds. We saw no other effect.

NOTHING?

Either red candy shows the “NOTHING?” banner. After we had eaten the first one, the second showed its name in the hotbar before we ate it. No effect seen.

CAFFEINE CHEW

The red-and-white candy comes out of a bedroom nightstand drawer.

Eating it shows the “CAFFEINE CHEW” banner and adds a second, purple bar under the existing bar at the bottom left of the screen. That purple bar goes away again later, by the time we were back in the foyer.

This list comes from one solo run. These parts are not covered yet:

  • What the appetizer’s “>>” icon does, and what LIFE SAVER and CAFFEINE CHEW do beyond the blue tint and the purple bar.
  • Whether the candies are in the same places in every run, and whether there are more kinds.
  • Whether candy matters for opening the vault or for Abe’s supper.
  • How candy corn is earned.
