Dark Arisen takes Dragon’s Dogma 2 north, into the frozen and long-abandoned region of Norgan. Alongside the enigmatic Eir, the Arisen hunts the secret behind the undying Fallen Dragon and fights through a chain of large monsters that cap off in a demon lord called Satanachia. The expansion also drops twelve new dungeons into the base map and a relic system that turns monster spoils into gear.

Quick answer: The story runs from the Rotten Dragon through Fimbl, Gaganat, Willan Barbatos and the Fallen Dragon, then closes with Eir returning her collected will to her master; the Into Rancor post-game adds the final Satanachia fight.
What the Dark Arisen expansion adds to Norgan
Dark Arisen is a paid expansion for Dragon’s Dogma 2, released on October 9, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and Nintendo Switch 2. Existing owners buy it as an add-on, priced at $29.99 on the PlayStation Store. On Switch 2 it ships as a complete edition that bundles the base game and the expansion together. Capcom developed and published it.
The new area is the Forsaken Dominion, set in Norgan, a once-prosperous part of Vermund that was abandoned years ago and is now buried under heavy snow. Monsters there drop relics, which you appraise at the Norgandian Settlement to reveal their real stats as weapons and armor. Some gear unlocks unique skills, and Relic Expedition Cycles repeat for more rewards. Separately, the Lost Rites place 12 dungeon challenges across the original world, built by the Pathfinder and stocked with equipment once held by past Arisen.

Add to Google Preferences →The main story bosses, from the Rotten Dragon to the Fallen Dragon
The campaign is a sequence of large-monster encounters tied to named quests. A high-level Arisen fighting as a Magick Archer, backed by three pawns, clears each one in turn.
Rumbles in the North and the Rotten Dragon
Norgan opens with a corrupted dragon attacking a stronghold. The quest Rumbles in the North asks only that you repel it rather than kill it outright, and the fight leans on Magick Archer skills to chip at the beast before it flees and Eir steps in.

Sage’s Wisdom: Mournful Giant and Fimbl
Sage’s Wisdom splits into two trials. Riddle of the Body has you slay the Mournful Giant in a blizzard to collect its tusk. Riddle of the Soul then pits you against Fimbl, an ice dragon fought across a frozen temple’s stairs.

Fimbl resists ice and is weak to fire, so cold attacks do little against it. Clearing it hands over a Frozen Wyrmlife Crystal and, on this run, unlocks the trophy The Specialist.

The Castle in the Ice and Gaganat
The Castle in the Ice sends you after Gaganat, a fiery winged boss in the icy caverns. Beating it yields firebird tallow, which is then used to burn through an ice barrier blocking the way forward.

Soul Searching, Willan Barbatos and the Fallen Dragon
Soul Searching threads through monster-filled ruins to gather three slab transcriptions and rescue the soldier Morgus from a Blemmyae that has him in its mouth. Freeing grabbed allies before they are devoured becomes a recurring demand during the demon waves that follow.

Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way defends the Shrine of Wave against demons and unmasks Willan Barbatos, a demon carrying a corrupted heart who fights with dark magic and illusions. He flees through a portal into Niflhel, and the Godsbane blade is used to follow. Reunion then plunges into Niflhel to kill the Fallen Dragon and free the will of Master Rovall, a drawn-out confrontation that ends with the dragon’s core exposed and destroyed.

Boss stats worth knowing before each fight
These are the shipped figures for the expansion’s major enemies. Hard Mode health is the pool you face on that difficulty, and the experience value is what a kill awards. Several bosses carry a clear elemental lean worth planning around.
| Enemy | Health | Hard Mode HP | Experience |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fallen Dragon | 500,000 | 500,000 | 200,000 |
| Satanachia | 427,330 | 427,330 | 250,000 |
| Willan Barbatos | 276,000 | 276,000 | 180,000 |
| Lesser Demon | 260,000 | 260,000 | 120,000 |
| Fimbl | 240,000 | 240,000 | 82,000 |
| Barbatos | 150,000 | 150,000 | 55,000 |
The Fallen Dragon takes 15 percent extra from slash and strike attacks, with knockdown power of 1,300 and seven parts that take no damage at all, so hits need to land on the exposed areas. Satanachia takes normal damage from every element but is weak at the head to slash and strike, where it takes 20 percent more. Fimbl resists ice and is weak to fire; the Lesser Demon is the opposite, resistant to fire and weak to ice, which makes element choice matter on both.
Barbatos and Willan Barbatos are separate entries with very different health pools, and both resist ice, fire, holy and lightning while taking full slash and strike damage.
Into Rancor and the fight with Satanachia
Into Rancor, the Forsaken Dominion’s post-game quest chain, becomes available after Soul Searching is complete. Its seven stages unfold in order: consult scholar Polyeidus; go to Abyss Ridge to investigate Niflhel; use the Godsbane to dispel rancor’s vortexes; fill the Blade of Rancor with souls; wield the blade to unseal Niflhel’s maw; plunge into the depths; and defeat the wickedness that awaits there.
Along the way an empowered Fimbl returns before the descent. The final fight is against Satanachia, a winged demon lord with 427,330 health who declares the world’s will a blight to be thwarted. Clearing Into Rancor pays out 500,000 experience, 100,000 gold and 15,000 rift crystals, and unlocks the trophy Dogma Defended.
How the Dark Arisen story ends
Defeating Willan Barbatos in Niflhel causes the corrupted heart to manifest and trigger a world-wide catastrophe, with a vortex tearing open over the mountains as allies gather. The Arisen re-encounters the Fallen Dragon to save Rovall, and the Reunion fight ends with the dragon dissolving into light as Eir returns the power of will to her master. Eir herself then fades into golden particles in a farewell scene.
The credits roll over an ending theme, followed by an epilogue showing a restored Master Rovall seated on a throne in an ancient hall. Completing the Into Rancor route adds a second close: the Arisen wakes in Lorade Castletown and speaks with the Pathfinder at a cliff edge before the final reward screens. Between the two, Dark Arisen gives Norgan’s story a clear resolution while leaving the post-game relic cycles and Lost Rites dungeons open for continued play.
