The Snatching-Beast is a Dark Arisen side quest in Norgan. A Snowfoot has raided the research commission’s stores, and Wash wants them back. You need to reach the beast’s cave east of the Mountain Stronghold, kill the Snowfoot, and find five supply packs. Three of those packs are hidden in places that are easy to walk past.

Quick answer: Collect all five Commission Supplies in the Snatching-Beast’s Lair, keep them unopened, and hand them to Wash at Northwall Campground for 40,000 XP and 30,000 G.

All five Commission Supplies locations

Two packs sit in the tunnels before the boss room. The other three are in the chamber where the Snowfoot sleeps. Each pack you pick up triggers the message “You found one of the missing supply packs.” After the fifth one, you get “You found all of the stolen supplies.”

Packs in the tunnels

Once you’re inside the cave, go down instead of heading straight for the beast. The path drops into a rocky pit with two Saurians in it. Past them is a small room with barrels and a tilted crate. The Thermal pack is lying on the floor in that corner, not inside a container. The same room also has Level 3 spoils and Abandoned Supplies (Normal).

Keep going until the corridor opens into a hall full of pots and wooden boxes, and the area name switches to Snatching-Beast’s Lair. Look up along the wall for a raised stone platform with crates stacked on it. Climb up and you’ll find the Curatives pack next to the crates. Many players miss this one because it’s above eye level.

Packs in the boss chamber

A small keg rests on a raised rock ledge behind the stone dais where the Snowfoot sleeps. The Rare Armor pack sits beside one side of the keg, and the Rare Curatives pack is on the other. On the ground by the cave wall, find the Rare Weaponry pack alongside wooden crates and a Snowoak Bark pickup.

You can open the packs to dump their contents into your inventory, but you’ll get the best payout only if you hand them back to Wash unopened.

Starting The Snatching-Beast and getting to the lair

Wash gives you the quest at the Mountain Stronghold once Rumbles in the North is done. The first objective is “Pursue the snowfoot.” The lair is east of the stronghold, and you can only get in from the north side because cliffs block the southern approach. Whiteouts are common out there, so bring Heatstones and some healing items.

Ride the elevator down from Mountain Stronghold to Norgan Snowfield. Cross the snow alongside the rock wall. Opening the dark wooden chest beside the bushes triggers an ambush.
Descend the slope into a slim ravine cut by a shallow stream. Stay by the water until you come to a rope ladder fixed to the snowy cliff, then climb up.
Make your way over the open snowfield and beyond the broken wooden barricade. Bear right among the pine trees; at the ridge, slide down the snowy bank.

At the bottom, follow the trail of dropped items the Snowfoot left behind. It includes 786 G, a Boreal Tuber, a Panacea, and scraps of meat. The trail ends at the cave mouth.

When you walk into the cave, the game tells you that you’ve found the snowfoot’s lair. The objective then changes to “Recover the supplies and deliver them to Wash.”

How to beat the Snowfoot

To reach the boss room, go through the arch covered in tree roots and drop down the ledges into the main chamber. The Snowfoot is asleep on the stone dais when you arrive, so you can get a few free hits in before it gets up.

The Snowfoot is weak to lightning and resists fire. Use lightning and aim for the head. Head hits with lightning deal 1.2x damage, and slash and strike attacks deal full damage to the head but less to the body. If you have a pawn who casts lightning spells, bring them. Lightning can stagger the Snowfoot into a wall or knock it down.

All of its attacks are physical. Expect wide arm sweeps, stomps, two-handed overhead slams, and charges. Later in the fight, it jumps off the cave walls for flying kicks. Keep your party spread out so one sweep can’t hit everyone. When it’s standing and you can’t reach its head, get behind it and hit its legs. When it goes down, switch to the head and chest. Climbing onto its back is another way to get at the weak spots, and pawns can grab on to hold it still while it’s staggered.

If you kill the Snowfoot and pick up at least one commission supply, you unlock the Abominable Snowstash achievement.

Snowfoot stats, damage multipliers, and debilitations

The Snowfoot is a large Beast-type enemy with five health bar segments. It is worth 60,000 experience. Its knockdown power is 800, so its hits will put your Arisen on the ground. Hard mode raises its Strength and Magick and lowers its Magick Defense. It also applies a 0.75 damage taken multiplier.

StatNormalHard mode
Health240,000240,000
Strength6,0009,500
Magick6,0009,500
Defense550550
Magick Defense600550

Damage multipliers are different for the body and the head. Lightning is the only element that gets a bonus anywhere on the Snowfoot.

Damage typeBodyHead
Lightning1.0x1.2x
Slash0.8x1.0x
Strike0.8x1.0x
Ice0.8x1.0x
Holy0.8x1.0x
Fire0.6x0.8x

Debilitations can all be inflicted, but the build-up needed varies a lot. Silence needs the least. Sleep and petrification need so much that they aren’t worth trying in a normal party.

Snatching-Beast’s Talon and other Snowfoot drops

Examine the Snowfoot’s body after the fight. It can drop Snatching-Beast’s Talon, Onyx, Boreal Tuber, Aged Scrag of Beast, Scrag of Beast, Lantern Oil, Abandoned Supplies (Rare), Fine Fruit Roborant, and Fine Harspud Roborant. The body can also give Level 3 Light Weaponry, Bowstaff, and Long Weaponry spoils. There’s a chest on the dais with more Ancient weaponry spoils, Winterweed, Dried Spud, and Withered Branches.

The Snowfoot is the only enemy that drops the talon. It’s a forging material for Smithed Coldmarch Cuisses, Smithed Infiltrator’s Hosen, and Smithed Snowskip Skirt. It weighs 0.35 kg and stacks to 99. It costs 3,000 G to buy and sells for 900 G. If you need more than one, forging a copy costs 3,600 G.

Delivering the supplies to Wash and The Snatching-Beast rewards

Leave the cave and go to Wash’s camp at Northwall Campground in North Valgrian Frostgrove. He stands next to the cave wall. If you have a Ferrystone, you can fast travel to the Northwall Campground portcrystal. Talk to Wash to open the delivery screen. It has five slots, one per pack, and you can hand them in a few at a time. If you’re short, Wash asks you to keep looking, and you can come back later with the rest.

The Deliver screen asks the player to confirm delivering a Snowdeer Bone to a villager in Norgan.

“You’ve done it—that’s the lot! Many thanks. This ought to sustain our investigation for some time yet.”

When the fifth pack is accepted, Wash says the line above and the screen shows “Completed: The Snatching-Beast.” A full delivery pays out the following:

  • 40,000 XP
  • 30,000 G
  • Three Abandoned Supplies
  • Level 3 Ancient Bowstaff, Long Weaponry, and Light Weaponry spoils

You get the same XP no matter how many packs you return. Returning fewer packs cuts the gold and the number of Abandoned Supplies. The quest can give both kinds of Abandoned Supplies. You have to get them appraised, and they can turn into Wakestones, Panaceas, tomes, rings, and spell scrolls. Appraising a Normal one costs 5 RC and a Rare one costs 10 RC.

Before you leave the campground, check that the completion notice appeared. That confirms the game counted all five packs and gave you the full payout.
