End of Abyss: How to Upgrade the Scanner and Find All 6 Cheat Codes

End of Abyss hides six cheat codes across its facility, granting effects such as reduced damage, infinite ammo, endless Health Boosters, oversized heads, and a giant knife. None of them can be read until you upgrade the Scanner with the Cryptograph, a key item found deep in the Lower Levels near the end of the game. Once the Scanner is upgraded, the codes become visible in the environment and can be scanned into the Logbook.

Quick answer: Reach the Lower Levels, collect the Cryptograph to upgrade the Scanner (unlocking Second Sight), then scan all six codes spread across six areas. Activating any code permanently disables achievements on that save.

Turning on a code through the Cheat Codes section of the Logbook disables every achievement on the current save for good. Scanning the codes is safe, but do not activate them if you still want trophies on that file.

Upgrade the Scanner with the Cryptograph (Second Sight)

The Scanner upgrade sits behind three tiered keycards in the Lower Levels. You need to reach the point where the mainframe asks you to release the protocols, and you need the Incinerator weapon to clear a Parasitic Growth along the way. Picking up the Cryptograph unlocks the Second Sight achievement and lets the Scanner read codes.

Progress to the Lower Levels and release the protocols when prompted by the mainframe. Once back there, ride the elevator at B3’s southeast corner up to F1.

Head all the way east to find an elevator down to B2. Follow the path east, south, and west, then climb down the ladder on the west side of the room. Grab the Level I Access keycard from the ground at the bottom.

Advance along the critical route until you acquire the Incinerator weapon. At the southeast corner of Lower Levels – F1, take the elevator and use the Incinerator on the Parasitic Growth on the wall just east of it. Head south, then west into the open room, and open the hatch in the floor’s center.

Crawl through the vent into the previously sealed room and take the Level II Access keycard from the body inside.

Reach the northeast hallway in Lower Levels – F1, which leads toward the Failed Experiment. Unlock the door at the southeast corner with the keycard, then climb the stairs behind it to F2.

Travel north and then west; the Level III Access keycard is waiting atop a short flight of stairs.

Go back to the northeast hallway on F1. Unlock its northeast-corner door with the new keycard, then follow the route east to its end and take the Cryptograph from the desk. Picking it up upgrades the Scanner and unlocks the Second Sight achievement.

All six cheat code locations (Cryptographer)

With the Cryptograph in hand, each code appears as hidden markings you reveal with the Scanner. Scanning all six completes the Cryptographer part of the Logbook. Some codes sit behind weak walls, floors, or growths, so bring Explosive Charges, the Grappling Hook, and the Incinerator before you set out.

Armor (Containment Sector – B1)

In Containment Sector – B1, find the room on the west side with a column of large metal balls. Use an Explosive Charge to smash the weak ball; the code is underneath it.

Infinite Ammo (Communication Center – F3)

Blow open the weak wall on the western side of Communication Center – F3 using an Explosive Charge. In the room immediately east, open the locker; its door has the code printed on the inside.

Infinite Health Boosters (Infirmary – B1)

You need to obtain two keycards first: the Infirmary Access Keycard in Lower Levels – F1, followed by the Restricted Access Keycard inside the Infirmary.

On Lower Levels – F1, enter the room immediately below the Incinerator pickup location. Burn the Parasitic Growth on the floor using the Incinerator, then take the Infirmary Access Keycard that appears.

Travel to the shuttle in the Habitation Sector, head east, and use the keycard to enter the Infirmary.

Move east, then north, and enter through the hallway’s northwest-corner door. Continue north, east, south, east, and south; take the first door along the west wall. In that room, use the west-side door, followed by the door immediately to its west, to reach the small room containing the Restricted Access Keycard.

Retrace your route through the three most recent doors, head north, and unlock the door at the corridor’s northern end with the keycard. Take the stairs past it down to B1.

Reach the southeast room containing the mortuary drawers. Open the Sealed Hatch, which is one of the drawers on the north wall, with the Grappling Hook to uncover the code.

Infinite Equipment (Outer Sector – B2)

In Maintenance, blast the weak floor immediately west of the Save Room with an Explosive Charge, then fall through the opening.

Continue west along the route, crossing the gap with the Grappling Hook, until you arrive at the bottom of Factory West – F2. Proceed west into Outer Sector – B2.

Position yourself halfway along the first corridor. The code is written on the wall; adjust your position until the Scanner catches the correct angle and reveals it.

Big Head (Factory West – F4)

Reach Outer Sector – B2 the same way as the Infinite Equipment code: blast the weak floor west of the Maintenance Save Room, drop down, and follow the path west across the Grappling Hook gap through Factory West – F2 into the Outer Sector.

At the corridor’s westernmost end in Outer Sector – B2, smash the crates to uncover the Executive Level Access Keycard.

Take the keycard to the elevator near Factory West – F2’s midpoint and ride it up to F4.

Strike the electrical panels on the first room’s north wall with a melee attack to uncover the code, then scan it. A Data Shard is nearby in the area.

Big Knife (Habitation Sector – B1)

You’ll need two security keycards to access this code: the Security Guard Keycard from Containment Sector – F2 and the Security Chief Keycard from Habitation Sector – B1.

Blast the weak wall near Containment Sector – F2’s southeast corner with an Explosive Charge. In the room behind it, take the Security Guard Keycard from the dead body.

Travel to Habitation Sector – F1 and find the Vault area in the northwest corner. Use the Security Guard Keycard on the door east of there, follow the hallway north, and take the stairs down to B1.

Go west through the doorway in the west wall, then take the Security Chief Keycard from the table.

Open the door on the east side of the previous room with that keycard. On the wall of the third cell beyond it, you’ll find the code.

Scanning all six adds them to the Cheat Codes list in the Logbook, where they sit ready to switch on. Leave them off to protect your achievements, and only flip the switch once you are done chasing trophies on that save.
