Aurora Bean Rice

Aurora Beans are a raw crop that grows in Cinder’s Cradle, the volcanic region opened up by the Enshrouded 1.0 update. They are the base ingredient for a handful of long-duration buff dishes, but you cannot simply buy or craft the raw beans. You have to harvest them from specific plants, and the easiest cluster sits just inside a cave mouth in the northern volcanic zone.

Quick answer: Use the Ancient Gate to reach Cinder’s Cradle, then locate the Cave Passage in Crops Of Cinder’s Cradle, just north of Drak’Dal Camp. Gather the fern-like plants around the cave entrance; each yields 3 Aurora Beans.

Where Aurora Beans grow in Cinder’s Cradle

The plants look like glowing, fan-shaped ferns and sit among the blue luminous flora near the mouth of a cave. The reliable spot is the Cave Passage tied to Crops Of Cinder’s Cradle, reached by passing the Ancient Gate from the shoreline north of Starfish Shores and Cromville Hot Spring. Several bean plants spawn close together right around the entrance, so you can clear a few in one visit.

Cross the Ancient Gate heading northeast to reach the volcanic biome. On your world map, place a waypoint at the Cave Passage marker in Crops Of Cinder’s Cradle, just north of Drak’Dal Camp.

Follow the carved stone road toward the waypoint, then run off the exterior path into the mouth of the cave. The entrance opens into an area lit with blue light and thick with green vegetation.

Walk up to a fan-like green fern plant, some sit beside the wooden spikes near the entrance, and press [E] to harvest it. You will see an Aurora Beans +3 notification, often alongside a little Plant Fiber and Twigs.

Circle the entrance and the surrounding undergrowth to find the rest of the plants growing nearby. Each additional node gives another three beans, so a single sweep of the cave mouth stocks you up quickly.

Don’t eat Aurora Beans raw

Do not eat Aurora Beans raw: taking one straight from its plant causes Food Poisoning for 180 seconds. While the effect lasts, maximum Health drops by 80 and maximum Stamina by 70. This Common item stacks to 20 and must be cooked first.

Picking up your first Aurora Beans unlocks the recipes that use them, so even a single harvest run opens up the cooked dishes below.

What to cook with Aurora Beans

All three Aurora Bean dishes are made at the Kitchen and run for a 3,600-second (one hour) buff. Pick the one that matches your build.

DishRarityMain buffs
Aurora Bean RiceUncommonMelee Damage 24%, Mana Regeneration 12
Plantain Salad with Aurora BeansUncommonDagger Damage 24%, Ranged Damage 24%, Health Regeneration 12
Fish TacosEpicHealth 50, Maximum Oxygen 75, Stamina Regeneration 21

Aurora Bean Rice is the melee pick, pairing a 24% melee damage bonus with steady mana regeneration. Plantain Salad with Aurora Beans leans toward ranged and dagger play, adding 24% to both along with health regeneration. Fish Tacos is the diving and survival option, raising maximum oxygen by 75 and maximum health by 50, and it also comes as a reward from the quest The Good Old Days.

Grow your own Aurora Beans

Once the Farmer survivor is unlocked and you have picked up Aurora Beans, you can craft an Aurora Bean Seedling at the Seedbed instead of returning to the cave each time. The recipe takes 1 Aurora Beans and 1 Basalt Farm Soil and produces 5 seedlings per craft, needing 2 water and about 3 minutes.

Plant the seedlings in Basalt Farm Soil; they pass through 4 growth steps before maturity. Each mature plant yields 3 Aurora Beans on its single harvest, keeping a planted row stocked without a trip to Cinder’s Cradle.
