Enshrouded 1.0 Shields and Wards List: Skill Ranks, Bonuses and Where to Get Each One

All 32 off-hand pieces in Enshrouded 1.0, with item levels, skill ranks, bonuses, and the chest, enemy, or recipe behind each.

All 32 off-hand pieces in Enshrouded 1.0, with item levels, skill ranks, bonuses, and the chest, enemy, or recipe behind each.

In Enshrouded 1.0, the off-hand slot takes shields and wards, and this list covers 32 of them: 25 shields and 7 wards. Two are unique shields at fixed spots in the world. Nineteen shields and all seven wards drop from chests and can also be crafted once you unlock their recipes. The last four come from enemies or from hand crafting. For the parry skills and the shields that add Power Parry, see the sword and shield parry build.

Unique shields and where to find them

Pikemead’s Bulwark and Riptide each have one set location (the same spots as in where to find every unique weapon and ring). After finding either one, you can have another made at the Blacksmith.

Shields from chests and the Blacksmith

A Flame level unlocks most shield recipes: “from Flame N” means the recipe is available once your Flame Altar reaches level N (the upgrades are in every Flame Altar upgrade requirement). The Rising Fighter Shield is the exception: it becomes available once Charcoal, Metal Scraps and the Forge are known. A shield found in a chest matches that chest’s level, while its rarity is rolled. Blacksmith materials are in every Blacksmith recipe, and the Emberguard Shield has its own guide.

The Cursed Mocking Shield has no recipe: it only comes from chests.

Wards for mages

Wards are the mage’s off-hand. The Spectral Ward description puts it plainly: “This magic shield allows you to block and parry against physical attacks.” Every ward adds a rank to Arcane Deflection, Eternal Spark, Unity and Wand Mastery, plus one more skill. That extra skill is a Mage resistance skill, except on the Spectral Ward, where it is Snake Eater. Every ward also carries Mana Regeneration.

Wards are made at the Alchemist, not the Blacksmith (materials in every Alchemist recipe). Most ward recipes become available when your Flame Altar reaches the Flame level shown; knowing Bonemeal unlocks the Spectral Ward. A ward found in a chest matches that chest’s level, and its rarity is rolled.

How to read the tables

In every table, “Skill ranks it adds” means that skill gains that many ranks while the piece is equipped. Entries like “Ice Resistance skill” are Mage skills, not the resistance stat. “Other bonuses” lists resistances, Mana Regeneration, and damage bonuses at their base values, and “(twice)” means the bonus is carried two times. Retaliation reads, word for word, “A percentage of received Melee Damage is dealt back to attackers”.

Shield and ward cards such as the Wooden Shield, Fell Defender Shield and Spectral Ward carry this parry text: “You can block when equipped with any Melee weapon, Ward, or Shield. A well-timed block will parry the attack and fill up the enemy’s Stun Bar.” and “Wait to see a flash on the enemy or projectile to perform a parry.”

Builds and weapons to pair with a shield

Shield players can pick skills from the sword and shield parry build and a main-hand weapon from the one-handed weapons list; ward users will find their main-hand weapons in the wands and staves list.
