Enshrouded: How to Fix the Exposed Debuff by Equipping the Ragged Shirt

Craft the Ragged Shirt by hand from String and Torn Cloth, equip it, and Exposed clears from the Character tab.

Craft the Ragged Shirt by hand from String and Torn Cloth, equip it, and Exposed clears from the Character tab.

In Enshrouded, a character wearing nothing but trousers carries a debuff called Exposed. It means you have no clothing on. The game describes it as “-6 Stamina Regeneration, -10 Stamina. You’re exposed and feel cold. Equip clothing to protect yourself.” To clear it, put on a piece of upper body armor. The Ragged Shirt is one you can craft by hand, without a station.

Quick answer: Craft the Ragged Shirt from String 3 and Torn Cloth 4 (CRAFTING tab > ARMOR > Armor – Basic). Then right-click it in the BACKPACK and choose Equip. The Character tab then shows “Debuffs: 0”.

What the Exposed debuff does

Open the Character tab with N. Without a shirt, the character model wears only trousers. Physical Armor and Magical Armor both read 0, and the summary lists “Buffs: 0” and “Debuffs: 1”.

Click “Status details…” on the Character tab to open the STATUS screen. Under DEBUFFS you’ll find “Exposed” with a snowflake icon. It lists two penalties, “- 6 Stamina Regeneration” and “- 10 Stamina”, above the line telling you to equip clothing. So you have less stamina, and it refills more slowly, until you put something on.

Craft and equip the Ragged Shirt

Gather String 3 and Torn Cloth 4. If you’re short on String, craft it by hand from Plant Fiber in the Supplies category.
Press V to open the CRAFTING tab, then pick ARMOR from the list on the left. The “ARMOR – BASIC” group holds four tiles.
Select the third tile, which shows a torn beige shirt. Its card reads “Ragged Shirt” and “Upper Body Armor – Equippable”, with Common rarity. Press SPACE to craft it.

Crafting the shirt does not put it on. Exposed stays active until you equip the shirt yourself.

Right-click the shirt. A menu opens with Equip, Equip (Cosmetic) and Delete. Choose Equip, not Equip (Cosmetic).

How to confirm Exposed is gone

Go back to the Character tab. The shirt now sits in the upper body slot and the character model is wearing it. Physical Armor and Magical Armor both read 10, and the debuff count reads “Debuffs: 0”. Exposed is gone, and so are its stamina penalties.
