The Dragoncore Staff is a Legendary Mage staff in Enshrouded. It sits in a fixed chest at the back of a cave, so you don’t need a boss fight or a crafting recipe to get it. You only need to reach the right ruin chamber.
Quick answer: Travel north past Drak’Dal Camp, go down the canyon path into the Cave Passage, and open the golden chest on the circular platform inside the ruin chamber.
Dragoncore Staff location: Cave Passage north of Drak’Dal Camp
The chest is inside the Cave Passage, a short underground route in the northern part of the map. Drak’Dal Camp is the nearest landmark. If you have the Crops of Cinder’s Cradle objective active, its marker points to the same area.

The chest holds two things:
- Gold Coins x7
- Dragoncore Staff
When you loot it, a “SPECIAL ITEM ACQUIRED! | DRAGONCORE STAFF” notification appears. The staff then shows up in your backpack as a Legendary “Staff • Magic Weapon” with long range. You hold it in your hand and can equip it from there.
Dragoncore Staff stats and perks
The Dragoncore Staff is built around fire spells and critical hits. Here are its core values:
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Legendary |
| Class | Mage |
| Weapon type | |
| Slot | Ranged weapon |
| Item level | 1-55 |
| All Magic Fire Damage | 10% |
| Critical Strike Chance | 7% |
| Critical Strike Damage | 24% |
You don’t get these perks all at once. You unlock them one at a time by upgrading the staff at the Alchemist, in this order:
- Magic Fire Damage, equal to 10% of base damage
- +24% Critical Strike Damage
- +7% Critical Strike Chance
- A second Magic Fire Damage bonus
- +10% All Magic Fire Damage
The staff carries a blood-red, cracked gem above its tip. Its in-game description ties it to the long-gone age of dragons.
Dragoncore Staff vs. other Legendary staffs
Every staff below is a Legendary Mage weapon with an item level of 1-55. The main difference between them is which perks they carry.

| Staff | Element bonus | Crit perks | Other perks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fire 10% | Chance 7%, Damage 24% | None | |
| Ice 10% | Chance 7% | Mana Leech 3% | |
| Ice 10% | Damage 14% | Mana Currents 1 | |
| Ice 10% | Chance 5% | Mana Currents 2 | |
| Shock 10% | Chance 6% | Mana Currents 3 | |
| Shroud 10% | None | Mana Leech 3% | |
| None | Chance 6% | Healer 2, Mana Leech 3%, Mana Currents 3 | |
| None | None | Healer 1, Mana Currents 3 |
Dragoncore Staff is the fire option in this group. It is also the only one listed that has both a Critical Strike Chance and a Critical Strike Damage perk. In exchange, it has no mana or healing perks, unlike the Crystalwater and Clearwater staffs.
Like any staff, the Dragoncore Staff only casts if you also equip Spell Charges and have Mana to spend. Pair it with fire spells to make use of its fire damage bonuses. Its crit perks apply to any spell you cast with it.
