FC 26 No Payne No Gain Evolution: Best RB Picks and Upgrades

The free RB Evolution adds pace, passing, and defending across four levels, so pick a card with high base Physicality.

The free RB Evolution adds pace, passing, and defending across four levels, so pick a card with high base Physicality.

The No Payne No Gain Evolution is live in EA Sports FC 26, letting you upgrade a single right-back in Ultimate Team for free. It pushes pace, crossing, passing, and defensive numbers across four levels, but it never touches Physicality, so your starting card matters more than usual.

Quick answer: Slot an RB that is at most 90 OVR, sits within the PlayStyle limits, and already has 90+ Physicality, then play four matches with it active. Strong fits include Trent Alexander-Arnold Answer the Call, Dumfries TOTY HM, and Ben White Showdown.

No Payne No Gain upgrades by level

The Evolution runs across four levels. Each level adds stat boosts, new PlayStyles or PlayStyles+, and in some cases extra positions and roles. The values below show the increase and the cap it reaches.

LevelUpgrades
Level 1Overall +15 (94), Acceleration +15 (93), Sprint Speed +15 (93), adds RM position, PlayStyles+ Intercept, PlayStyle Quick Step
Level 2Crossing +15 (95), Curve +15 (95), Long Passing +15 (95), Short Passing +15 (95), Free Kick +15 (95), Fullback++ role
Level 3Interceptions +15 (96), Vision +15 (95), PlayStyles+ Rapid, PlayStyle Enforcer, Inside Forward++ role
Level 4Heading Acc. +15 (96), Def. Aware +15 (96), Slide Tackle +15 (95), Stand Tackle +15 (95), PlayStyle Anticipate

The mix of Quick Step, Rapid, and the added attacking roles turns a defensive full-back into an overlapping wide threat, while Level 4 brings the defending back up to a usable level.

How to complete each level

Every level shares the same condition, so there are no goals or wins to chase. You just need to get your active Evo player onto the pitch four times.

Play one match in Squad Battles on at least Semi-Pro difficulty, or in Rush, Rivals, Champions, or Live Events, with your active Evo player in the squad. Completing it unlocks Level 1.
Play another qualifying match under the same conditions to unlock Level 2.
Repeat once more for Level 3.
Play a final qualifying match to unlock Level 4 and finish the Evolution.

You know it worked when the card’s stats, PlayStyles, and new positions update on the card after each match and the Evolution progress shows all four levels complete.

Best players for No Payne No Gain Evolution

Because there is no Physicality boost anywhere in the four levels, the ideal candidate already has strong physical numbers, ideally 90 or above. The Evolution then handles the pace, passing, and defending. These right-backs clear the entry caps and respond well to the upgrades.

Note: Check your card’s current PlayStyle and PlayStyle+ count before committing. If it is already at 3 PlayStyles+ or 10 PlayStyles, the additions from the Evolution will not all apply, which lowers the value for that specific card.

Pick a base card you already own or one cheap to acquire, prioritise high Physicality, and the No Payne No Gain Evolution will deliver a fast, two-way right-back at no coin cost beyond the card itself.
