Fisch: How to Get the Astraeus Serenade Rod Again

The Wish of the Sky menu now reopens the full Astraeus questline, including every mutation catch and the 50 million coin payment.

The Wish of the Sky menu now reopens the full Astraeus questline, including every mutation catch and the 50 million coin payment.

The Astraeus Serenade spent a long stretch locked away in Fisch, sitting behind a questline nobody could start. That changed with the Budling update, which dropped the Stage 10 guitar rod into the Wish of the Sky menu and made its original questline runnable again. The catch is that the questline itself is unchanged, so you are still doing the same long chain of spirit hand-ins, mutation hunts, and a 50 million coin payment.

Quick answer: Sail to Skycrest Island, open the Wish of the Sky menu at Ryusei, and select Astraeus Serenade. That starts Astraeus’ Wish, which you finish by handing over every quest item and paying 50,000,000 C$ at level 1000 or higher.

Start the questline from Wish of the Sky

Reach level 1000. The rod has a hard level gate, and no amount of quest progress will hand it over below that threshold.
Travel to Skycrest Island and speak to Ryusei to open the Wish of the Sky menu. Astraeus Serenade now appears in the list of limited rods you can wish for.
Pick Astraeus Serenade from the wish options. Selecting it does not drop the rod in your bag — it unlocks the original Astraeus questline, which you then complete the old-fashioned way.

Note: a wish is a one-shot resource, so spending it here means you are committing to a multi-hour grind rather than an instant unlock.

Everything Astraeus asks for

Astraeus’ Wish is a checklist rather than a linear quest, so you can knock items off in whatever order suits your gear. Two of the entries are crafted through separate spirit NPCs, and four are mutation catches that depend entirely on which rods you own.

Astronomical Fretboard and Twilight Pegs

The Spirit of Darkness only appears on Cursed Isle during a foggy night, near the wooden house, and only in Spring or Autumn. Put Driftwood, Resin, and a Molten Ripple into the dirt pile there and the spirit hands back the Astronomical Fretboard.

The Spirit of Light sits at the top of Northern Expedition, at Glacial Grotto. Climb up on a windy night while holding a Heavenly Flying Fish to make the NPC appear, then give it a Blessed Moon Wood to receive the Twilight Pegs. Do the Cursed Isle spirit first — the light spirit expects you to have already dealt with the darkness side.

Dusky Thread from Merlin

Dusky Thread is a Merlin craft, and getting to his workshop area takes a detour. Speak to Merlin at Roslit Bay and choose the line about entering The Chasm to get the Merlin’s Veil buff, then jump into the water behind his house and swim into the chasm until you teleport to the Mineshaft.

Inside, you are fishing the pool for Radiant Crystals, a Gemstone-rarity catch with 30 Resilience and -80% Progress Speed. Your Control also drains by 0.015 every second during the minigame, so treat each one as a real fight. You need a Breezed, a Serene, and a Celestial Radiant Crystal — once all three are in hand, Merlin’s craft option appears and gives you the Dusky Thread.

Which rods apply each required mutation

Four of the hand-ins are mutation-locked, and mutations in Fisch come almost entirely from the rod you have equipped. Sorting your loadout before you start travelling saves an enormous amount of wasted fishing time.

MutationSource and chance
BreezedWind Elemental Rod, 25%
SerenePolaris Serenade 20%; Duskwire 2%, rising to 4% on a Perfect Catch
CelestialCelestial Rod, guaranteed on every catch
LunarAstral Rod or Event Horizon Rod, 5%
NovaRod of the Cosmos or Cerulean Fang Rod 15%; Starlight Worm bait 30%; any rod during Starfall 5%

The two slowest entries are the Breezed Bloop Fish and the Celestial Colossal Ethereal Dragon, because both depend on a spawn rather than a catch rate. Bloop hunts can be pushed along with Angler quests or server hopping, while the Colossal Ethereal Dragon hunt has roughly a 0.2% chance per night and its pool only stays open for 15 minutes once it appears.

Reaching Astraeus’ Void and handing everything in

Go to the Underground Music Venue with the Astronomical Fretboard and Twilight Pegs already in your possession. Without both, the entrance will not open for you.
Wait for Starfall, or pop a Starfall totem. The trigger only works while the event is active.
Click the guitar, the drum, and the microphone. Interacting with all three teleports you onto the purple platform in Astraeus’ Void, where the NPC is waiting.
Hand items in one at a time. Talking to Astraeus gives you three dialogue options — choose the first while holding a quest item to give it, or the first while holding nothing to pay coins. The third option kills your character, so avoid it.

You will know the questline is done when Astraeus kills you after the final requirement. That death is the intended ending, and the Astraeus Serenade lands in your equipment bag straight afterwards.

Astraeus Serenade stats and passives

The reward is an all-purpose rod with essentially no downside. The old -10% fish weight penalty was stripped out in version 1.93.1, and its 0.3 Control widens the reeling bar to 60% of the minigame.

Its passives are where the rod earns its Stage 10 label. There is a 10% chance to fill the progress bar instantly, plus a Flurry of Stars that fires every 2.25 to 10 seconds and runs for 2.25 seconds. Stars start falling every 0.5 seconds and accelerate to one every 0.1 seconds, with each star worth +3% progress for a total of +30%. During Starfall, six extra stars fall for another +18%.

Mutation rolls sit at 18% for Astraeus (9.6×), 13% for Serene (8.5×), and 11% each for Celestial (4×), Breezed (8.6×), and Nova (6×). Your screen also darkens while you reel, which is cosmetic but hard to miss.

Rod Mastery quests and rewards

Mastery unlocks at level 1000 and adds three quests on top of the rod itself. The final one grants the Firefly Entity enhancement, which hands you a free fish every three minutes with a guaranteed Quiet mutation plus +3% Shiny and +3% Sparkling chances. Every perfect catch cuts 60 seconds off that timer.

Astraeus Serenade skins

The shop currently carries a limited Stars Highways skin for 1,200 Robux, which swaps in a custom casting UI, new animations, and its own music track. Riviere Astrale comes from mastery and replaced the Golden Astraeus Serenade in version 1.96.0, though anyone who already earned the golden version keeps it. Purr of Rebellion, a 1,499 Robux limited skin, is the other paid option.

Redeem the LittleBudlingUpdate code

The same update that returned the rod also shipped a code. Launch Fisch, open the menu, pick the Codes tab, and enter LittleBudlingUpdate for 1,000 coins, the Walrus boat, and an assortment of baits and totems. Codes expire, so redeem it before it stops working.

The Walrus boat itself is a solid free upgrade at 180.5 speed, 2.15 steering, and 2.13 acceleration — useful, given how much sailing this questline demands between Cursed Isle, Glacial Grotto, Desolate Deep, and the caverns.

Plan the run around the spawn-dependent catches first. Line up the Bloop hunt and the Colossal Ethereal Dragon whenever they appear, then fill the gaps with the Serene Strings, the appraised Lunar Scrap Metal, and the Nova Resin, which you can grind at any time. The coin total is the one requirement you can prepare for in advance, and 50 million is the wall most players hit last.
