The Sky Crest update added a Mastery track to the Requiem in Fisch, and finishing it is the only way to claw back some of the progress speed the rod lost on hunt fish. The track is three quests long, all of them built around the rod’s own Husk and Requies mutations, and the payout is a mix of stat buffs, a title, and the legendary Ethereal Requiem skin.

Requiem Rod mastery rewards in Fisch
Rewards are claimed from the rod’s Mastery panel once each quest ticks over. The two stat enhancements are permanent and apply whenever the Requiem is equipped, while the skin and title are cosmetic.

How to complete the three Requiem Rod mastery quests
All three objectives only count while the Requiem is the rod in your hands, since every one of them depends on mutations the rod applies itself. The rod rolls a 20% chance for Husk (0.14×) on a catch, and each Husk catch triggers Arcane Finality, which multiplies the final weight by 0.4× and hands you a duplicate carrying Requies (9.8×) at 1.6× weight. That duplicate is what the second quest is looking for.

Requiem of the Husk is the long pole. Any fish qualifies, not just hunt spawns, so the fastest route is a dense fishing spot where you can chain casts and let the 20% Husk roll accumulate. Stacking the +5% Husk Chance reward from the other quests first shortens the grind noticeably.
The secret variant requirement is the rarest step because it needs two things to line up at once, a secret hunt fish on the line and a Requies proc. Since Requies only arrives as the duplicate half of Arcane Finality, you are effectively waiting on a Husk roll during a secret variant catch.
Requiem hunt fish nerf: 5% to 2% progress per click
The Requiem’s signature trick is that the start and end of every input, while the fish sits on the bar, grants +5% progress. Version 1.99.0 carved out an exception. Against a fish with -50% or worse Forced Progress Speed, that gain drops to +2% per input and the click threshold is raised, which is what made hunt catches feel so much slower after the change.
The mastery reward is a direct patch for that. The +0.5% click progress bonus applies specifically to Progress Locked Fish, the same category the nerf targets, so a fully mastered rod pulls ahead of an unmastered one on exactly the catches that got slower. On a Scylla, the difference between the two setups is visible in how quickly the bar fills.
Note: input timing still matters more than input speed. Holding and releasing too quickly snaps the reel, and the raised click threshold on locked fish makes sloppy spamming riskier than it used to be. A steady rhythm beats a fast one.
Empyrean enchantment: stats and how to get it
Sky Crest also brought the Empyrean enchantment, which stacks cleanly with a mastered Requiem because it pushes progress speed from a different direction than the per-click bonus. It grants +10% Forced Progress Speed, +10% True Progress Speed, +30% normal Progress Speed, a 15% chance to duplicate a fish with the Empyrean mutation, and slashes that scale with progressing power.
Empyrean is rolled using Empyrean Relics. Hold on to your first relic rather than burning it at the altar, because it is needed for the main quest. Every relic you pick up after that is fair game for enchanting attempts.
How to confirm the Requiem mastery is active
Open the rod’s Mastery panel and check that each of the three quests shows as complete and that the Completion Reward has been claimed rather than left sitting there. Progress does not apply until the rewards are collected. Once claimed, the Ethereal Requiem skin appears in the Requiem’s skin list and can be equipped from there, and “The Requiem” becomes selectable as a title.
If a quest counter refuses to move, the usual causes are narrow. Catches made with a different rod do not count toward any of the three objectives. Requiem of the Hunt only accepts perfect catches on Husk-mutated hunt fish, so a successful but imperfect reel does nothing for it. And Requies of the Hunt needs the secret variant specifically, not a standard hunt fish carrying the mutation.
Mastered or not, the Requiem stays a Stage 10 crafting reward with 277% Luck, 120% Lure Speed, 63% Resilience, 0.1 Control, and a 1,500,000 kg cap, built at the Ancient Archives for 15,000,000 C$ at Level 1000. The mastery track does not change any of that. What it changes is how the rod feels on the fish that the last patch slowed down, and for anyone grinding Husk duplicates on hunts, that half a percent per click is the whole point.
