Chapter 7 Season 3 turned Fortnite into a Sprite-hunting season, and the Portable Extractor is the tool that keeps a rare Sprite safe when you can’t reach an Extraction Site. A custom lobby exploit now lets you pile up those Extractors for free. It works, but it hinges on one specific requirement, and using it carries real risk to your account.
Quick answer: Buy a Portable Extractor inside an empty custom Battle Royale lobby, leave the match, delete the custom key, then drop into a normal match. Your Extractor count stays increased while your Sprite Dust resets to its pre-purchase amount, so each cycle nets a free Extractor.
What the Portable Extractor does and why players want it
The Portable Extractor is a Legendary Utility Item added in update v41.00 on June 6th 2026. Its whole job is to extract your equipped Sprite from anywhere on the island, so you don’t have to travel to an Extraction Site and expose yourself to other teams while the site comes online.
It equips in your pickaxe slot. On console you hold Triangle/Y to swap to it, then hold R2/RT to send your Sprite safely back to the lobby over five seconds. On PC it sits under your pickaxe icon, and pressing the swap key followed by your action button does the same thing. It has a 15-second cooldown and stacks up to 100.
Normally you earn Extractors slowly. You can buy one per day for 2,000 Sprite Dust at the terminal near an Extraction Site, and you receive batches for reaching Sprite Mastery Level 5 on two and then six different Sprites. That scarcity is exactly why an unlimited supply is appealing, especially when a Legendary Sprite is on the line.

Add to Google Preferences →The one requirement: access to a custom lobby
This is the catch. The exploit only works in a custom Battle Royale lobby, and those are created with a Support-A-Creator (SAC) code. If you hold a SAC code, or a friend with one can set up the match, you can run the glitch. Without access to custom matchmaking, there is no way to trigger it.
The reason it works is a mismatch between the two lobby types. A purchase made inside a custom match still adds the Extractor to your account, but when you exit and drop the custom key, the game restores your Sprite Dust balance to what it was before you queued. The item sticks; the currency does not.

How to confirm the glitch worked
You know it succeeded when your Portable Extractor count is one higher than before, while your Sprite Dust reads the same amount it did at the very start. In other words, you gained an Extractor and paid nothing for it. Repeat the full cycle across multiple custom lobbies and you can bank hundreds of Extractors without ever spending Sprite Dust or extracting a single Sprite.

| Value | Before purchase | After returning to a normal lobby |
|---|---|---|
| Portable Extractors | Starting amount | Increased by one |
| Sprite Dust | Starting amount | Unchanged (reset to starting amount) |
The risk before you try it
Exploiting a currency or item bug goes against Fortnite’s rules, and Epic can respond with account penalties up to a full ban. The glitch is live right now, but there is no guarantee how long it stays that way, and a patch could close it at any time. If you decide to use it, understand that you are doing so at the risk of your own account.
It’s also worth remembering why the Portable Extractor exists in the first place. It’s meant for the tense moments when you’ve found a rare Sprite and can’t safely reach an Extraction Site. Even with a large stockpile, the smart play is still to save them for the Sprites that genuinely matter rather than burning them on commons.
