Gem Sprites are the shiny, diamond-styled Sprite variants that joined Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 during the August 6 New Sprite Day. There are nine of them in total, and they sit among the hardest special variants to track down. Each one carries the same passive effect, but the spots where they appear differ from Sprite to Sprite.

Quick answer: Search Sprite Chests and Rare/Relic Chests in the named locations for each variant, then extract the Gem Sprite before you leave the match. Rarer ones such as Gem Zero Point, Gem Grim, and Gem Punk only spawn from Sprite Chests, so expect to open many before one appears.

What Gem Sprites do

Every Gem Sprite reduces your fall damage by 30%. It is a purely passive buff that stays active while the Sprite is equipped. The effect helps most when you are dropping from mountainous terrain or escaping enemies who hold the high ground.

Note: the Air Sprite removes fall damage entirely, so the Gem buff is more of a collection prize than a competitive edge. For most players, finishing the set is the real reward.

All nine Gem Sprites and where to find them

You obtain Gem Sprites by opening loot containers, mainly Sprite Chests and Rare/Relic Chests. Like all special variants, they show up far less often than their base counterparts. The table below lists each Gem Sprite with the areas where it tends to appear.

Gem Water and Gem Earth tend to wander around their matching environments, so watch rivers, beaches, forests, and wooded ground for those two. Once you spot a Gem Sprite, use a Portable Extractor or a nearby Extraction Site to secure it, or level it to 5 to master it first.

How rare each Gem Sprite is

Two variants stand far above the rest in terms of difficulty. Gem Zero Point is the single rarest Sprite in the game right now, and Gem Grim is not much easier. Everything else in the set is uncommon but noticeably more attainable through chest farming.

Gem SpriteDrop rate
Gem Zero Point Sprite0.00001%
Gem Grim Sprite0.00099%

Those numbers make it clear you will crack open a large number of Sprite Chests before either one appears. Gem Punk sits in the same tricky tier because it only spawns inside Vaults.

Gem Grim early release and automatic restore

Gem Grim briefly appeared during the July 30 update before it was pulled from the game. If you extracted it during that short window, it stays in your collection and returned automatically when Gem Sprites went live. Everyone else has to find it the normal way, by searching Sprite Chests in its listed areas.

Gem Llama also released a little early, dropping from Relic Chests as part of the July 30 wave, so it may already be in some collections ahead of the full lineup.

Best ways to improve your odds

A few tools and events push the numbers in your favor. Use the Lucky Locator to raise your chances on the rarest spawns, and bring a Sprite Locator when hunting Gem Grim. Leveling the Peeky Peely Sprite to level 5 widens the range at which it detects nearby Sprites, which speeds up every hunt.

Timing matters too. The Gem Hours Power Hour on August 8, 2026, at 2 PM and 9 PM ET boosts the chance of finding Gem variants, making it the strongest window to close out the set. That event lands two days after the variants launched, so it is the natural cleanup opportunity for anything you missed.

If the grind stalls, trading with friends remains a reliable fallback for the variants you cannot find. Between focused chest routes, the Gem Hours boost, and a leveled Peeky Peely, the full nine-Sprite collection is achievable even with Gem Zero Point in the mix.
