The Mega Buster is Mega Man’s arm cannon, added to Fortnite Battle Royale as part of the Chapter 7 Season 4: Override crossover. It fires energy shots, charges for heavier hits, and even lets you dash-slide across the ground. Getting one is simple, but keeping it useful comes down to managing a fixed pool of ammo that you cannot refill.
Quick answer: Open loot chests or grab floor loot anywhere on the Chapter 7 Season 4 island until a Mega Buster drops, equip it, and press Fire to shoot. It starts with 75 shots and cannot be recharged.

Where the Mega Buster drops in Fortnite
The Mega Buster carries a “Rare” rarity, but it spawns far more often than that label suggests. You will find it in loot chests and as floor loot scattered across the whole island, including busy hot spots and named POIs. There is no single guaranteed location to chase. Landing at any active drop zone and looting a few chests is usually enough to pick one up.
Because it is so common, opponents can grab it just as easily, so expect to face the weapon as often as you use it. One thing worth knowing up front: you cannot claim the Mega Buster for free through a Lobby Hack code. It only comes from world loot inside a match.

Mega Buster ammo limit
The Mega Buster does not use the standard ammo types. It comes with a built-in reserve of 75 shots, and every action draws from that pool. Once it runs dry, the weapon stops working entirely and cannot be topped up, so treat those shots as a limited resource.
| Action | Ammo cost |
|---|---|
| Starting reserve | 75 shots |
| Single energy shot | 1 shot |
| Full charge attack | 5 shots |
| Refill or recharge | Not possible |
Tip: The charge attack burns five shots at once, so leaning on it drains the reserve quickly. Save charged blasts for high-value moments and use single shots for everything else if you want the weapon to last most of a match.
Trading and running out of ammo
You can drop the Mega Buster and trade it with teammates, so a squad can hand off a fresh one or pool spares. When the reserve hits zero, the weapon becomes unusable for the rest of the match, and there is no way to reload or refill it. At that point, your only option is to swap it out and find another Mega Buster from chests or floor loot.
