Anyone who spent Chapter 7 Season 3 hunting Sprites logged into Override and found an empty shelf. None of the Runners-era Sprites can be equipped, none of them spawn on the Season 4 map, and the collection screen no longer offers them as options. They are not deleted, though — they have been moved.
Quick answer: Season 3 Sprites are vaulted, not removed. Open the Override tab in the Lobby, select Sprites, then choose View Archive to see all 117 variants you collected. Archived Sprites are display-only and cannot be brought into a match.
Why every Season 3 Sprite is missing in Override
Override introduces an entirely new generation of Sprites, and the previous generation was vaulted when the season rolled over on August 20. That means the Runners roster — 25 base Sprites and 117 released variants across Normal, Gold, Gummy, Galaxy, Gem, Holofoil, Cube, and Quack — no longer appears in chests, Sprite Chests, or overworld spawns.
The important distinction is between vaulted and lost. Every variant you extracted stays attached to your account. What changed is where it lives and what it can do. Archived Sprites have no in-match function in Season 4, so mastery levels on them no longer affect gameplay.

You will know it worked when the archive grid fills with your Runners-era Sprites and every equip button is unavailable. If a Sprite shows as empty in the archive, it simply was not extracted before the season ended — finds that were never banked never counted as owned.
Where Season 3 Sprites still show up
Instead of vanishing with the season, the old generation was folded into cosmetic and social features. Four places carry that progress forward.
| Feature | What your Season 3 Sprites do there |
|---|---|
| Sprite Garden | An island getaway where collected Sprites are displayed and playable; you can visit friends’ gardens. Season 4 Sprites are added to it as you collect them. |
| Sprite Mastery Pod Back Bling | Collected Sprites appear as unlocked styles for the Back Bling. |
| Guardian Outfit | Collected Sprites can be selected as pilots inside the Outfit. |
| Sprite Collection page | The old generation stays permanently listed alongside the new one. |
The Sprite Garden was built in collaboration with Fairview Portals and Beyond Creative, and Epic has said it will evolve over time.
What resets when the season ends: Gizmos and Sprite Dust
Sprites themselves carried over into the archive, but the two Runners currencies did not. Gizmos and Sprite Dust were both wiped at the season rollover as part of the new season’s systems. Any balance you were saving is gone, and there is no conversion into a Season 4 equivalent.
Note: mastery status in the archive is a record, not a resource. Mastering more of the old roster now is not possible, because the Sprites cannot be equipped or leveled.
The Sprites you can equip in Override
Override’s generation leans into the season’s video game theme, with Sonic, Tails, and Shadow joining returning Fortnite characters like Jonesy and Klombo. Eleven Sprites make up the launch roster, and not all of them appear equally often in early matches.
| Sprite | Effect |
|---|---|
| 8-Bit | Find an 8-Bit Shotgun in your first Chest and gain a score multiplier for it. |
| Adventure | Upgrades a random item in your inventory at each Level. |
| Bush | Spawns a Bush on you after a duration; at max Level, grants a Bush on elimination. |
| Crown | Extra Crown Wins after a Victory Royale. Only levels up by winning matches. |
| Jackrabbit | Lets you perform another jump while mid-air. |
| Jonesy | Recovers some Health or Shield a short time after you take damage. |
| Killswitch | Enter Hangtime with improved accuracy. |
| Klombo | Very rare. Grants random items at each Level, and only levels up through Health or Shield consumables. |
| Shadow | Automatically reloads weapons over time, even when unequipped. |
| Sonic | Sprint faster. |
| Tails | Hover with the help of Tails. |
Design-A-Sprite winners arriving in mid-season updates
Five community designs won Epic’s Design-A-Sprite contest and are part of the Season 4 generation, but they were not in the launch pool. They are slated for mid-season updates, so their absence from the roster right now is expected rather than a bug.
| Sprite | Creator |
|---|---|
| Bullet | Enorull |
| Dumpster Dive | StinkyPrincessGoose |
| Honey | Conejito_sam |
| Pond | Pine & Kiri |
| X-Ray | Avila215 |
The contest drew more than 20,000 submissions from the community before those five were selected.
Will Season 3 Sprites return to Battle Royale?
Possibly, but nothing is scheduled. Epic has said older generations may come back at some point, which would give players a second chance at variants they never extracted.
Sprites from past generations may return down the line, offering another shot to add them to your roster and flex their tiny Sprite muscles in Battle Royale again.
No date or window has been confirmed for any return, and no specific Sprite has been named. Until then, the only reliable way to see whether something has come back is to check the equippable Sprite list after each weekly update.
For now, treat the archive as a trophy case. Gaps in a Runners collection cannot be filled in Override matches, so the practical move is to start the new generation from zero and let the Sprite Garden handle the display side of everything you already earned.
