The Sprite Locator is a Gizmo in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 that reveals a Buried Sprite Chest only you can see. Trigger it, follow the marker, and dig up the chest to claim whatever Sprite is hiding inside. The catch is that you have to earn it first, and you can lose it if you die before cashing in.
Quick answer: Reach Level 5 (Mastery Rank) on 17 different Sprites to receive three Sprite Locators. In a match, open the Gizmo Wheel, equip the Sprite Locator, hold R2 for a 3-second countdown, then follow the marker and dig the revealed chest with your Pickaxe.

What the Sprite Locator does
The Sprite Locator instantly points you to the location of a Buried Sprite Chest that no other player can see or reach. That chest could hold a Sprite you still need for your collection, or it might just hand you another Water Sprite. Either way, the location is yours alone, so there is no risk of someone snatching the chest out from under you.
The Sprite Locators in your inventory cannot be stolen by other players. They are only removed when you consume them by triggering a search.

The Sprite Locator comes from the Sprite Mastery unlocks. To earn it, you need to hit Level 5 (Mastery Rank) on 17 different Sprites. Once you clear that threshold, three Sprite Locators drop straight into your inventory.
A Sprite only counts toward Mastery once you extract it at Max Level. So the goal for each of your 17 Sprites is to raise it to the required level and then safely extract it to lock in the Mastery Rank.
Tip: Quack Snacks speed this up. Each one grants +1 Level for 1,500 Gold, which makes pushing Sprites toward Mastery Rank far less grindy.
| Requirement | Detail |

How to use the Sprite Locator in a match

How to know it worked and how you can lose it
You know the Locator triggered when the countdown finishes and the chest marker appears with a Sprite hologram above the dig spot. Reaching the dirt patch and digging it up confirms the claim, and the Sprite is added once the chest opens.
The main way to waste a Sprite Locator is elimination. If you are knocked out after triggering the Locator, you lose both the Sprite Locator and the Sprite waiting inside that buried chest. Because you only start with three, it is worth reading the hologram first and making sure you can safely reach and dig the chest before you fully commit.
Sprite Locator vs. Lucky Locator
The Sprite Locator is easy to confuse with the Lucky Locator, but they behave differently. The Sprite Locator surfaces a random buried chest that could contain any Sprite, including a duplicate Water Sprite. The Lucky Locator is a separate Gizmo that guarantees a Sprite you do not already own. That item arrives later in the season.
For now, the Sprite Locator is your fastest route to a private chest that nobody else can contest, so save your three charges for moments when you can safely reach the dig spot and lock in the Sprite you find.
