In Fortnite’s Star Wars Droid Tycoon, pickaxe strength comes from your companion droids, not from a better pickaxe model. The Axi-Pod gives the largest bonus in the game at +13 Pickaxe Level. You can’t buy it or find it as a blueprint. You build it at the Fusion Station from three other droids that share the same Kyber color.

Quick answer: Awaken Ric, R7, and BDX Explorer in the same Kyber color at Huyang’s Workbench. Load all three into the Fusion Station pods, then press FUSE and pay the credit cost.

Axi-Pod fusion recipe and costs

The fusion only works when all three ingredients are Kyber droids awakened in the same color. Three Purple droids make a Purple Kyber Mythic Axi-Pod. Mixing colors won’t work. Each droid’s color is rolled at random when you awaken it, so you may need to roll more than once.

The 60.48T figure is the price the FUSE button showed for a Purple fusion. The prompt on your console shows your exact cost before you pay. You need enough credits banked before you finish the set.

How to fuse the Axi-Pod in Droid Tycoon

The steps below use Purple, but the order is the same for Green or Blue.

Take an inactive Kyber Ric to Huyang’s Workbench and open the KYBER ACTIVATION screen. Select Ric and pay 10 Kyber Crystals, or 250 V-Bucks, to awaken it with a random color. If you don’t get the color you want, roll again.

Get an R7 astromech in the same color. Open its companion menu to check its color tag before you use it in the fusion.

The R7 must be the same color as your Ric, or the fusion won't work. Shown at 01:59 in Loot Dad’s video. Image: Frostmouse
Go to the market conveyor belt and pick up a BDX Explorer blueprint as it passes. The prompt reads “TOSS BLUEPRINT ON CRAFTING STATION.”

Take the blueprint to the Shipyard and toss it onto the crafting station. When the build finishes, a “DROID COMPLETE” pop-up appears.

The finished BDX Explorer opens its own menu. It still needs an upgrade and Kyber awakening. Shown at 02:29 in Loot Dad’s video. Image: Frostmouse
Take the BDX Explorer to the upgrade terminal and accept the “UPGRADE DROID?” prompt. Keep upgrading until it reaches Galactic rarity.
Go back to Huyang’s Workbench and awaken the BDX Explorer for 2 Kyber Crystals, or 100 V-Bucks. Reroll until it matches your Ric and R7.
Place the three matching droids into the three pods at your base’s Fusion Station. When the set is valid, the screen shows “FUSION READY” and the Axi-Pod appears on the console.
Use the console and press FUSE to pay the credit cost. The new Kyber Mythic Axi-Pod comes out in the same color as its three ingredients.

The BDX Explorer costs only 2 Kyber Crystals per roll, while Ric costs 10. Rerolling the BDX Explorer to match is the cheaper option.

Axi-Pod Pickaxe Level bonus compared

Astromech companions add a flat bonus to your Pickaxe Level. The game adds that bonus to the level you’ve bought to get your effective level. A normal hit removes 1.2 × (effective level + 1) seconds of crafting time. That means each extra level removes another 1.2 seconds per hit. The Axi-Pod’s +13 comes to 15.6 extra seconds on every normal hit.

DroidPickaxe Level perkExtra seconds per normal hit
Galactic R6+89.6s
R7+1113.2s
Axi-Pod (any Kyber color)+1315.6s

The color doesn’t change the perk. Green, Blue, and Purple Axi-Pods all give +13 Pickaxe Level. Only the production rate is different. It was 4.95M/s for Green, 5.36M/s for Blue, and 5.94M/s for Purple on the same base. If you only want pickaxe power, fuse whatever color is easiest to match.

Check the DROID PERK readout. An Axi-Pod shows +13 Pickaxe Level in every Kyber color. Shown at 01:09 in Loot Dad’s video. Image: Frostmouse

For your second companion slot, use Chopper. Its “+50% Crit Chance & Amount” perk adds 50 percentage points to your 1% base crit chance. It also raises the crit multiplier from ×1.5 to ×2.0. Since crits scale from the normal hit, the Axi-Pod’s extra levels make every crit stronger too.

How to confirm the Axi-Pod fusion worked

When the fusion finishes, the Axi-Pod appears among your base droids with the KYBER and MYTHIC labels and an Astromech tag. Inspect it and its DROID PERK should read +13 Pickaxe Level. Equip it as a companion and your pickaxe hits should remove more crafting time right away, with no extra upgrades needed.
