Four new Sprites landed in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override with the v42.10 update, and two of them were designed by players. X-Ray and Onigiri come from the Design-A-Sprite contest, while Mega Man and Overshield are Epic’s own additions. All four drop from the same places, but they do not drop at anything close to the same rate.
Quick answer: Open Cheat Code Chests. Blue codes give a Rare Sprite (Mega Man, Overshield, Onigiri), purple and gold codes are where X-Ray comes from, and you must survive to an extraction site or use a Portable Extractor to keep whatever you pick up.
What the four new Sprites do
Every Sprite applies a passive effect for as long as it is equipped, and every effect scales with the Sprite’s level. A Sprite you carry from the drop through most of a match is noticeably stronger than one you summon in the last circle.

Onigiri counts anything consumable, so Mini Shield Potions, Med Kits, Peppers, Apples, Bananas and Floppers all set off Overdrive. Overshield is the simplest of the four and the easiest to feel immediately, since it is extra effective health on top of your normal shield.
Cheat Code Chests and what each code color gives you
Sprite Chests are gone this season. Sprites now come out of Cheat Code Chests, which you open by finding a Cheat Code Injector on a wall or floor and entering the arrow sequence it displays using directional movement. Forward is up, backward is down, and so on.
The color of the code tells you exactly which tier you are about to open, and the chest always hands over a Sprite from that tier.

Code rarity is random per location, so no POI reliably spits out gold codes. Sprites also drop from ordinary chests at a low rate and from players you eliminate who are carrying one.
One shortcut matters more than any farming route. If you equip any Cheat Master variant, you skip the arrow sequence entirely and can mash any button to open a Cheat Code Chest. Several Cheat Master Sprites unlock for free from Admin Panel codes in the lobby, which makes this the cheapest speed boost available.
Which of the four Sprites you can realistically farm
Mega Man and Overshield are the two you should expect to get quickly. Both turn up regularly from rare and epic cheat codes, and Overshield shows up often enough that even the Gold version can appear from an ordinary chest. If you only have a couple of matches, chase these first.
Onigiri is a different story. It shares the Rare pool but appears far less often, to the point where a single one across several dedicated matches is a normal result. Treat it as a lucky find rather than something you can grind on a schedule.
X-Ray is the hardest of the group. It sits in the Legendary tier alongside Jackrabbit, so gold codes are the reliable route and epic codes are the realistic one. Gold codes are rare enough that hunting them specifically is a poor use of a match. The better plan is to land at a busy POI, open every code you pass, and let X-Ray come to you.
Turning on Visualize Sound Effects helps more than it sounds like it should, because it puts cheat codes on your HUD from a distance instead of making you stumble across them. And when you have a choice between a blue code and a purple or gold one, always take the higher tier.
Gizmos that cut down the search
Two Gizmos change how fast a Sprite-hunting match goes, and both are free from the Admin Panel button in the top right of the Battle Royale lobby. Enter the code, and the Gizmos are attached to your account rather than a loadout, so they stay with you across matches and are not lost when you are eliminated.

A Cheat Code Locator points you at the nearest cheat code in the match, which removes most of the wandering. An Extraction Accelerator speeds up pulling a Sprite out at an extraction site so the chest arrives in seconds, and it does the job quietly, so you are not broadcasting your position while you extract something rare.
Note: Epic keeps adding new Admin Panel codes through the season, so it is worth reopening the panel every so often.
Loot Hacker variants arrive Thursday, September 10
Loot Hacker is a third finish sitting alongside Cheat Master and Gold. On top of the base Sprite’s perk, a Loot Hacker version raises the odds that the weapons already in your Loot Hack pool show up when you open loot. Existing Sprites such as Crown, Klombo and Jackrabbit are all getting one.
The base, Cheat Master and Gold versions of the new Sprites are already live. The Loot Hacker versions are not, and they are due through cheat codes and chests on Thursday, September 10. A handful appeared early for some players, which is why you may have seen one before the update.
There is one confirmed exception worth acting on now. The Loot Hacker Crown Sprite unlocks by winning a Victory Royale with the Golden Crown Sprite equipped, so it does not depend on a code at all. Two others, the Loot Hacker Jonesy and Loot Hacker Adventure Sprites, look set to be tied to their own lobby hack codes once those go live. Since most Cheat Master Sprites eventually get free codes, grinding chests for the rest is largely wasted effort.
How to keep a Sprite once you find it
Picking a Sprite out of a chest does not add it to your collection. You have to extract it, either by surviving to an extraction site or by using a Portable Extractor on the spot. Once it is extracted, it is yours permanently and you can resummon it later with Sprite Dust.
The most common way people lose a new Sprite is simple: they carry it around looking for more and get eliminated first. Use a Portable Extractor the moment something rare drops, especially with X-Ray or Onigiri, and treat anything still on your back as unclaimed.
Two more of the five Design-A-Sprite winners are still to come later in the season, with no confirmed release date for them yet. Until then, Mega Man and Overshield are the sensible early targets, Onigiri and X-Ray are opportunistic pickups at code-heavy POIs, and the Golden Crown Sprite is worth equipping on any match you think you can win.
