Mushteshir is one of the two Local Legends added to Genshin Impact in the 6.7 Luna VIII update, and it lives on the new Frost Moon map. It’s a beefed-up version of the Precursor’s Secret Source Matrix of Overseer Network automaton, but with a twist that makes clearing every reward tricky. The boss is immune to Hydro and protects itself with a Suppression Field of detection devices, so your team choice matters more than raw damage.
Quick answer: Drop Mushteshir below 50% HP with a Cryo or Electro team, then use a ranged unit to destroy all 4 detection devices from its first Suppression Field. That paralyzes it for about 10 seconds, and killing it inside that window clears all three objectives at once.

Mushteshir location and how to unlock the fight
Mushteshir sits underground, northwest of the Lunar Highlands in the Frost Moon. Before you can reach it, you need to progress the Moon Gazing world quest until you gain access to the Ungien’s Circle area of the map. Until that first act is done, the path in is blocked.

Add to Google Preferences →All three Mushteshir objectives and rewards
Mushteshir is a Valiant Chronicle Local Legend, so its rewards are claimed from the Valiant Chronicle Handbook at any Adventurer’s Guild station through Katheryne. There are three separate objectives, and you can complete all of them in a single fight if you manage your damage correctly.
| Objective | Rewards |
|---|---|
| Defeat Local Legend: Mushteshir | 20 Primogems, 3 Unblemished Lunar Iron |
| Paralyze Mushteshir by destroying all 4 detection devices during its first Suppression Field | 20 Primogems, 25,000 Mora |
| Defeat Mushteshir while it is paralyzed | 20 Primogems, 3 Guide to Conflict |
Completing the challenge also grants the Brimming Spiritflow Avatar Frame. If you plan to fight in co-op with a friend who has stronger units, set the World Level to 9 so the final reward stays eligible.
How the fight and the Suppression Field work
The most important rule is that Mushteshir is immune to Hydro. Bringing a Hydro DPS wastes a slot, so build around Super-Conduct or Stellar-Conduct instead, and lean on Cryo and Electro units since those are the elements that damage the detection devices.
During its opening phase, the boss throws Hydro attacks that either fire straight at you or rain down as an area effect. Dodge those and chip its HP down toward 50%. There’s no fixed damage number that triggers the next phase, but once it drops roughly below half, Mushteshir jumps to the center of the arena and deploys its Suppression Field.

The field spawns 4 floating detection devices that shield the boss. Because they hover high above the ground, you need a ranged character or an off-fielder with tracking attacks to reach them. Destroy all four with Cryo or Electro damage and the boss is paralyzed for about 10 seconds.
If you’re too slow and fail to break the devices in time, Mushteshir gains a Hydro shield and you lose the chance to clear all three objectives that run. To avoid that, reduce its HP as much as possible before the devices appear, so you can burst it down the moment it’s paralyzed.
There’s no cycle limit, so you can take your time. If you can’t finish the boss inside a paralysis window, hold back your damage and let it run another cycle until it can be stunned again, then commit everything.
Best teams for Mushteshir
The ideal setup pairs a ranged or off-field Cryo/Electro unit that can hit the devices with a nuke that finishes the boss during the paralysis window. Sandrone trivializes the device phase thanks to her Charged Attack, and Yae Miko or Fischl-style off-fielders keep pressure on the devices automatically. Chasca works as an alternative because her Elemental Skill reaches the floating targets, and Skirk can carry the damage as long as you bring a Cryo unit like Ganyu to clear the devices.
| Team | Why it works |
|---|---|
| Sandrone, Yae Miko, Qiqi, Nicole | Sandrone’s Charged Attack and Yae Miko’s turrets shred the devices; use Nicole while the boss absorbs elemental energy |
| Skirk, Escoffier, Furina, Ganyu | Ganyu reaches the devices while Skirk provides the burst to kill during paralysis |
| Chasca, Yae Miko, Escoffier, Nicole | Chasca’s Skill hits the high devices with reliable Cryo/Electro backup |
| Chasca, Furina, Nicole, Ororon | Ranged coverage with Electro support for the Suppression Field phase |
Four-star options like Charlotte or Fischl can also break the devices, provided you position them so their attacks actually connect with the floating targets.
How to confirm the clear and refight
You’ll know all three objectives are done when the Valiant Chronicle Handbook lists them as complete. Head to Katheryne at any Adventurer’s Guild to collect the Primogems, materials, and the Brimming Spiritflow Avatar Frame.
Like most overworld enemies, Mushteshir respawns at the daily server reset at 04:00. Once you’ve defeated it, you’ll need to wait for the next reset before you can challenge it again. Keep the no-Hydro, Cryo/Electro plan in mind and manage your damage carefully, and a single clean run is enough to walk away with everything.
