The Grand Nuo Ritual is the new Jianghu Legacy questline added in Where Winds Meet's Version 1.7 Imperial Palace update. It centers on a masked exorcism dance, where Imperial Guards carry golden spears and take on the roles of gods and demons to drive evil spirits out of Kaifeng's Imperial Palace. The questline begins with the ailing priestess Zhu En, and finishing it rewards you with the Demon Queller appearance along with Echo Jades.
Grand Nuo Ritual requirements and rewards
Before the quest will appear, you need access to the Imperial Palace area itself. That means reaching Character Lv. 32, completing Kaifeng Main Chapter I (New Arrival in Kaifeng - The Welcoming Crowd), and clearing the Throne and Tempest Lost Chapter that opens the Palace. You also benefit from having the Healer career unlocked, since curing the priestess is a required step.
| Detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Quest type | Jianghu Legacy |
| Region | Kaifeng Imperial Palace |
| Unlock requirement | Unlock the Imperial Palace area |
| Key abilities | Wind Sense, Healer career |
| Rewards | Demon Queller appearance, Echo Jades |
Start the quest at the guard rehearsal
Step 1: Travel to the courtyard located northeast of the Wenming Hall boundary stone. Watch the watch guards as they rehearse the ritual to trigger the questline.

Step 2: Speak with Yan Yi to learn about the traditional exorcism. Chen Li will then approach you, worried about the priestess's failing health.
Step 3: Follow the attendant to find Zhu En, the priestess whose life force has been drained. This moves you into the next stage of the quest.
Cure priestess Zhu En
Step 1: Finish your conversation with Zhu En before you attempt any treatment. Make sure the Healer career is unlocked, since the diagnosis relies on it.
Step 2: Activate Wind Sense, then press the Start Treatment button to begin diagnosing her illness. Pick the correct cards from the bottom of the screen to cure her successfully.

Prepare the ritual at the Narrow Hall (Zi hour)
The next stage only becomes available at Zi hour, so use the time-changing feature to advance the clock. Once it is Zi hour, enter the Narrow Hall, where Zhu En is preparing the ceremony.

Complete the preliminary tasks inside the hall in order.
| Order | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Worship the mask on the table |
| 2 | Extract blood from the golden rooster statue on the stand |
| 3 | Use the blood to draw a talisman on the other table |
| 4 | Light the talisman paper |
| 5 | Interact with the mask again |
| 6 | Shake the ritual tool a few times |
After completing every step, speak with Zhu En again to trigger a cutscene that leads into the exorcism itself.
Perform the Nuo exorcism
Step 1: Talk to the Chief Eunuch and complete the divination rite to begin the exorcism.
Step 2: During the ceremonial dance with the imperial guards, your character collects two more Nuo Dance Masks and performs two exorcisms in the process.

Step 3: Speak with the priestess once both exorcisms are done, then perform the final Nuo Dance. When the closing cutscene ends, return to Zhu En in the Narrow Hall and interact with her to complete the Grand Nuo Ritual.
How to know it worked and common blockers
The quest registers as complete after the final interaction with Zhu En in the Narrow Hall, and you receive the Demon Queller appearance and Echo Jades. If the questline will not progress, the cause is almost always one of these.
- You have not unlocked the Imperial Palace area, so the rehearsal does not appear.
- The Healer career is not active, which blocks the treatment step for Zhu En.
- It is not yet Zi hour, so the Narrow Hall preparation stage stays locked. Advance the in-game time first.
- One of the six preparation tasks was skipped, which prevents the cutscene from triggering.
Clearing the Grand Nuo Ritual also ties into wider Imperial Palace content, since the Demon Queller appearance can otherwise turn up while exploring the new map. Finishing the questline is the most direct route to securing it alongside the Echo Jade payout.
