Hunt the special Toe Biter, scan its venom, and gather claws, shells, Pond Moss, and Cattail Fluff to craft this Tier 4 scythe.

The Toe Biter Scythe is a Tier 4 two-handed melee weapon in Grounded 2 built to punch through armored foes. It carries a Chilling Venom effect and is unlocked by scanning Toe Biter Venom, then crafted at a Workbench from parts you strip off Toe Biters plus a couple of common pond materials.

Quick answer: Kill the special Toe Biter (Admiral Grand) to collect Toe Biter Venom, scan the venom at a Resource Analyzer to unlock the recipe, then craft it at a Workbench with 1 Toe Biter Claw, 2 Toe Biter Shell, 3 Pond Moss, and 2 Cattail Fluff.

Toe Biter Scythe stats and traits

This weapon takes a two-handed slot and is strongest against enemies with tough shells. Its Venom Attack applies a chilling effect on hit, which makes it a reliable pick for prolonged fights.

Materials you need to craft it

Toe Biter Claw and Toe Biter Shell both drop from killing Toe Biters, so a single hunt can cover the animal parts. Pond Moss and Cattail Fluff are gathered around the pond. Keep spare Claws and Pond Moss on hand for repairs.

MaterialAmountWhere to get it
Toe Biter Claw1Drops from defeated Toe Biters
Toe Biter Shell2Drops from defeated Toe Biters
Pond Moss3Deep underwater, cut with Tier 3 Omni-Clippers
Cattail Fluff2Harvest cattails near the pond and bridge with a Tier 3 Axe

Note: gathering Pond Moss means diving into deep water where dangerous creatures patrol, so clear the area or bring backup before you start cutting.

How to get Toe Biter Venom and unlock the recipe

The recipe stays locked until you scan Toe Biter Venom, and that venom only comes from the special Toe Biter, Admiral Grand. Regular Toe Biters swim in the water, but the named creature is the one that drops the venom you need.

Prepare your loadout before heading out. Equip a Gas Mask for the toxic air around the spawn area, and bring a Spicy weapon since Toe Biters are weak to Spicy damage. A spicy stabbing option such as the Crystal Trident works well for burning down its health.
Open the in-game map and travel to Admiral Grand’s spawn area near the upper-right sector. Head to the water there to find the creature.

Use the PEEP.R scanner to inspect Admiral Grand before engaging. The readout confirms its Spicy weakness, its resistances to Stabbing, Fresh, Venom, and Water, and its weak point on the rump.

Fight Admiral Grand, blocking its attacks and targeting the weak point to drain its health quickly. Stick to Spicy damage and keep your distance from the surrounding water hazards.

Once it falls, harvest the remains to collect Toe Biter Venom along with Toe Biter Claw, Toe Biter Shell, and Toe Biter Head. Grab extra Claws and Shells here since you will need them for the recipe and repairs.

Travel to any Field Station with a Resource Analyzer, interact with it, and scan the Toe Biter Venom. The scan unlocks the Toe Biter Scythe recipe, which then appears in your crafting menu.

Craft the Toe Biter Scythe at a Workbench

With the recipe unlocked and the materials gathered, open a Workbench to build the weapon. If the recipe shows all required items in white rather than greyed out, you have enough to craft.

Approach a Workbench and open the crafting menu. Find the Toe Biter Scythe under the recipe list.

Confirm the craft with 1 Toe Biter Claw, 2 Toe Biter Shell, 3 Pond Moss, and 2 Cattail Fluff. The finished scythe drops into your inventory ready to equip in the two-handed slot.

Repairing the scythe

The Toe Biter Scythe has 600 durability and can be repaired for 1 Toe Biter Claw and 1 Pond Moss. Because both come from your original hunt and pond dives, holding onto a small stock of each keeps the weapon in service without another trip to Admiral Grand.
