Fusion is the fastest way to turn two ordinary chickens into a single, much stronger fighter in Grow a Chicken Fighter. It merges the traits of both birds, keeps the higher base stats, and lets you carry over a powerful special ability. Done carelessly, it can also wipe out your best chicken for nothing, so the order of your choices matters.
Quick answer: Open the Flock menu, pick the chicken you want to keep, choose Fuse, select the second chicken, lock the ability you want, then confirm and pay. The fused chicken inherits the higher base stats of the two parents.
What fusion does to your chicken
Fusion takes Chicken A and Chicken B and produces one fused chicken. The result keeps the higher base stats out of the two parents, so the fused bird is never weaker in raw stats than the stronger parent. On top of that, it can carry a special ability from either chicken and unlock stronger combat options.
You can fuse chickens of any level or rarity together. Certain traits, like appearance and skill, are randomized between the two parents unless you lock them first. That is why the locking step is the part you have to get right.
Fuse locks and which traits you can keep
You get two fuse locks for free on every fusion. Each lock protects one trait from being randomized. Any trait you do not lock is chosen at random from one of the two parents. A locked trait shows a yellow lock icon next to it in the fusion menu.
Extra locks beyond the free two are only available through Robux purchases. In practice you rarely need them, because locking the ability alone is enough to build most strong fighters. These are the traits you can lock before confirming a fusion.

Tip: With only two free locks, treat the ability as your first priority and spend the second lock on whatever else you truly need, such as the egg type for farming.
How to fuse chickens
You know it worked when the resulting chicken shows the locked ability and the higher base stats of the two parents. Always check the preview before confirming, since the live cost and inherited fields can change, and one confirmation is final.
Base stat rules and fusions to avoid
Because the fused chicken keeps the higher base stats of either parent, fusing a strong chicken with a weak one does not automatically raise the weak one to the top. What it can do is pull down your strong chicken’s result if you lock the wrong fields. Avoid pairing a high-stat chicken like the Reaper Rooster with a low-stat one like the 404 Chick when your goal is raw stats, since it risks lowering the fused base stats.
There is also a rarity trap with the Reaper Rooster. Upgrading it to Secret rarity is not worth it. It does not raise its base stats and it makes inverted mutations harder to obtain, so you lose value for no benefit.
Inverted mutations through fusion
Inverted mutations are a stat boost worth chasing. They add +15% HP, +15% ATK, and +5% DEF to a chicken. Hatching one straight from an egg has only a 0.5% chance, which makes eggs an unreliable source on their own.
Strategic fusion is the more consistent route to an inverted mutation. This is another reason to keep the Reaper Rooster at its normal rarity rather than pushing it to Secret, since the higher rarity makes these mutations tougher to land.
Best fusion pairs and what to lock
The best fusion always depends on what you need, whether that is Tower bosses, Pit farming, or passive egg income. The key move is the same each time, which is to lock the ability you want from the donor so the strong base chicken inherits it.

Reaper x Voodoo
This is one of the strongest builds in the current meta. Fuse a Reaper Rooster with a Doll Hen and lock the Doll Hen’s Voodoo skill during fusion. Voodoo reflects incoming damage back at the enemy, so it punishes aggressive opponents instead of relying on raw damage. Both parent chickens come from the Haunt Egg, and both can also appear from the Blazing Egg during the Hot Event.
The grind is the hard part, since the Doll Hen has around a 2% chance and the Reaper Rooster under 1% from Haunt Eggs. The reliable way to farm Haunt Eggs is to reach the Zombie Chick, which lays them at a 100% rate. You build up to it by hatching Nest Eggs for a Cosmo Brat, using it to farm Scratch Eggs for a Slugger Hen, farming Arena Eggs for a Creepy Clown, then using the Creepy Clown to farm Haunt Eggs until a Zombie Chick appears. Fusing extra Zombie Chicks lowers their lay time and speeds up the whole loop.
404 x Ash
The 404 Chick has excellent scaling but a weak default skill, so pairing it with Cycle of Ash fixes its one weakness. Fuse the 404 Chick with a Radiant Fenghuang and lock the Cycle of Ash skill. Cycle of Ash restores HP over a few seconds and unleashes a burst of area damage, which suits the 404 Chick’s stat ceiling.
The 404 Chick hatches from the Cursed Egg at under 1%, while the Radiant Fenghuang comes from the Royal Egg at about 1%. Both can also drop from the Blazing Egg. To farm Cursed Eggs, work up to a Stone Face chicken, which lays them at 100%. For Royal Eggs, build toward a Rooster of Fortune, which also lays at 100%. Fusing either of these farming chickens increases lay speed.
Whatever pair you choose, plan it before you invest levels. Decide which chicken stays as your base and which supplies the ability, raise those two, and lock the skill during the fusion. That single decision is the difference between a fighter that clears deep Tower floors and a wasted pair of rare chickens.
