Chapter 2 of Halloween: The Game drops Michael Myers into Main Street, and the second challenge on the list asks for something very specific: Rachel has to die by an environmental execution, not by a knife or a bare-handed kill. She is a priority target, she is easy to reach, and she is also easy to waste on the wrong animation. Get the placement right and the challenge clears in a single grab.
Quick answer: Find Rachel in the cemetery, build a stalk on her while staying undiscovered, grab her from behind, then carry her to a nearby environmental execution point — an open grave, a gravestone, a loose block of stone, or a fence — and hit the context execution prompt (L2 on a controller). The challenge completes as soon as that animation plays.
What the Rachel challenge requires
The challenge text reads “Execute Rachel using an environmental kill.” Unlike Tanya, who is locked to the cash register, and Eric, who is locked to the hardware store stockroom shelf, Rachel is not tied to one named prop. Any environmental execution point in the cemetery satisfies the condition, which is why this is one of the more forgiving challenges in the chapter.
What is not forgiving is the state Rachel needs to be in. She has to be grabbed, and she has to be alive when you reach the execution spot. A standard kill anywhere in the graveyard removes the target and leaves the challenge unfinished for that run.
Where Rachel is in the Main Street cemetery
Rachel becomes an objective after the cemetery cutscene, which triggers when you walk up to the graveyard entrance. Facing away from the A-Side Music Store, head left and keep going until the entrance appears on the right.
Once inside, she splits off from her friends rather than following them. She wanders the tombstones, passes near a parked blue car, and at one point leans back against the stone wall ahead. Killer Sense outlines her clearly in the dark, so the search is short.

How to kill Rachel with an environmental execution

Environmental execution points that work on Rachel
| Spot | What happens |
|---|---|
| Open grave | Michael carries Rachel to the edge and triggers a context execution into the hole. |
| Gravestone | Head smash against the stone. The most common clear. |
| Loose block of stone | Michael picks up the stone and uses it on her while she is down. |
| Fence | Offers the Head Impale execution. |
Killer Sense highlights these points along with people, so if nothing is prompting, sweep the area in Killer Sense before you commit to a grab.
How to confirm Challenge 2 completed
Three things happen back to back. The screen prints RACHEL KILLED, the XP pop-ups stack up — +560 XP for the context execution and +1260 XP for the priority target execution, on top of smaller bonuses for staying undiscovered and holding stalk tiers — and the objective flips to HIDE RACHEL’S BODY. The challenge itself is credited as Graveyard Shift.

The cleanup is mandatory here. A dumpster gets marked on the HUD, and the chapter will not move on to Judith Myers’ gravestone until Rachel’s body is inside it. Tanya’s body, by contrast, is flagged as optional in the same objective list, so do not treat the two the same way.

Why the environmental kill fails
There are only a few ways to lose this one, and all of them are avoidable.
- You executed her with your hands or a weapon instead of taking her to a prop. The target is gone and the challenge stays unticked for that run.
- You approached with too little stalk built. Some executions need two or three tiers, so a thin stalk can leave you without the prompt you wanted.
- She spotted you before the grab. An alerted target can also reach a phone and call the police, which starts a timer and fills the cop indicator.
Note: if you are also chasing the no-alert challenge for the chapter, cutting the phone line before you work a busy area removes one way a sighting can escalate.
When to take Rachel during the chapter
Timing matters because Rachel’s group scatters right after the cemetery cutscene. Slab walks off toward a tree to relieve himself, and the other two head for a nearby house. Taking Rachel out early keeps Slab from being interrupted before he reaches the animation his own challenge depends on.
Before you commit to the execution animation, glance at where the other friends are walking. The kill itself is quick, but a few seconds spent in a context execution is enough to lose track of two targets in the dark, which turns the rest of Main Street into a door-to-door search.
Rachel is the most flexible of the Chapter 2 challenge targets, and that flexibility is worth using. Any grave, stone, or fence in the cemetery clears the condition, so the only real discipline required is patience with the stalk and the restraint not to finish her the moment the prompt for a plain execution appears.
