Orbs are the quiet damage multiplier in Heavyweight Fishing. They sit in your inventory, cost nothing to maintain, and can add up to +200% damage on top of your skills — but only if you own the right one for the skill line you already use. Six orbs exist, and each is tied to exactly one family of skills. Equip a mismatched orb and you get nothing at all.
Quick answer: Buy the Taoist Orb from the roaming Taoist Merchant for 100,000,000 Cash, catch the Rainbow Dragon Fish, Frost Queen Fish, or Frost King Fish for the Qian Gate, Sage Yijiu, and Cloud Ascension orbs, beat Enzo on Fallout Isle in Nightmare Mode at Level 1000 for the Execution Orb, and pull the Maoshan Orb from the Crystal summon banner. Equip through Power → Inventory → Orbs.
Every orb and where it comes from
Four different systems hand out orbs: a roaming merchant, secret fish, a boss fight, and the summon banner. Nothing overlaps, so there is no second route to any of them.
| Orb | How to get it | Works with |
|---|---|---|
| Taoist Orb | Buy from the roaming Taoist Merchant for 100,000,000 Cash | Apex Eagle Hunt skills |
| Qian Gate Orb | Catch the secret Rainbow Dragon Fish | Qian Gate Dao skills |
| Sage Yijiu Orb | Catch the secret Frost Queen Fish | Sage Yijiu skills |
| Cloud Ascension Orb | Catch the secret Frost King Fish | Cloud Ascension skills |
| Execution Orb | Defeat Enzo on Fallout Isle in Nightmare Mode (Level 1000) | Execution skills |
| Maoshan Orb | Summon from the banner using Crystals | Maoshan skills |
Note: naming is inconsistent across the game’s menus and community trackers. The Qian Gate Orb is also written as Chen Gate, Sage Yijiu appears as Sage Eju, and Execution skills are sometimes labelled Five Execution or Fire Execution. They refer to the same six items.

Add to Google Preferences →The matching rule: an orb only buffs its own skill line
This is the part that trips people up. Orbs are passive items, but they are not global. A Maoshan Orb does absolutely nothing for a Cloud Ascension build, and the Taoist Orb’s large damage number is dead weight unless you are running Apex Eagle Hunt skills. There is no partial effect and no fallback bonus.
Because of that, the correct order is to settle on a skill line first, then chase the orb that pairs with it. Chasing the strongest-looking orb before you have its skills leaves you holding an inventory item that changes none of your stats.
Orb stat ranges
Each orb rolls within a range rather than granting a fixed number, so two copies of the same orb are not equal. The Taoist Orb is the only one that touches all four stats, which is why it is generally treated as the strongest overall pick.
| Orb | Damage | Other bonuses |
|---|---|---|
| Taoist Orb | 25–200% | 5–25% Cash, 5–10% cooldown reduction, 1–50% drop chance |
| Maoshan Orb | 25–200% | 5–10% cooldown reduction, 1–50% drop chance |
| Sage Yijiu Orb | 50–200% | 5–25% Cash |
| Execution Orb | 5–150% | 10–40% Cash, 5–25% cooldown reduction |
| Cloud Ascension Orb | 10–120% | 1–25% cooldown reduction, 5–15% drop chance |
| Qian Gate Orb | 20–100% | 5–10% cooldown reduction, up to 100% drop chance |
Taoist Orb: find the roaming merchant
The Taoist Merchant does not have a fixed shop. He spawns on any island in the game except Beginning Isle, stays for a while, and then leaves. If you have the 100,000,000 Cash saved, hop between islands until you find him, because the purchase window closes when he despawns.

Cash is the only requirement here — there is no level gate on the purchase itself. Getting to nine figures is the real barrier, which usually means selling catches consistently in the highest-value area your rod can handle.
Secret fish orbs: Qian Gate, Sage Yijiu, and Cloud Ascension
Three orbs come straight out of the water. The Rainbow Dragon Fish gives the Qian Gate Orb, the Frost Queen Fish gives the Sage Yijiu Orb, and the Frost King Fish gives the Cloud Ascension Orb. All three are secret fish, which means they only appear under specific weather on their island rather than spawning on demand.
Practically, that turns these into a waiting game. Check the weather indicator, park yourself on the correct island when the right condition rolls over, and make sure your rod can actually land the catch — losing a secret fish to a snapped line during the reel minigame costs you the whole spawn.
Execution Orb: beat Enzo in Nightmare Mode
The Execution Orb is the hardest gate in the set. Enzo sits on Fallout Isle, and only the Nightmare Mode version of the fight drops the orb. Nightmare Mode requires Level 1000, so this is firmly endgame content and not something you can rush with a strong rod alone.
Lower difficulties of the same boss do not substitute. If you clear Enzo on an easier mode, the orb will not appear in your inventory.
Maoshan Orb: pulling from the summon banner
The Maoshan Orb is the only one behind randomness. It lives in the summon banner, opened from the Summon button on the left of the screen, and pulls cost Crystals. Rarer rewards sit at lower rates, so budget for more than a handful of summons.
Crystals come from quests, daily login rewards, and redeemable codes entered through the Code button. Codes are the fastest way to stock up before a pull session, and they are worth redeeming as soon as they go live in Heavyweight Fishing because most expire.
How to equip an orb
Orb not appearing or doing nothing
There are only a few reasons an orb fails to work, and they are all easy to check.
- Wrong skill line. The orb is equipped but your active skills belong to a different family, so none of its stats apply.
- Reward did not register. After the catch, kill, or purchase, open the Orbs tab and confirm the item is actually there rather than assuming it dropped.
- Server hiccup. NPC dialogue and interaction prompts have been unreliable at times. Rejoining a fresh server refreshes them and often makes a delayed reward show up.
If you are picking a target rather than collecting all six, the Taoist Orb is the strongest single item because it is the only one that boosts damage, Cash, cooldown reduction, and drop chance at once. That advantage disappears the moment your build is not Apex Eagle Hunt, though, so match the orb to the skills you already run before you spend 100 million Cash chasing a merchant across the map.
