Heavyweight Fishing: How to Get All Orbs and Their Stat Ranges

Every orb in the game, the skill category each one powers, and the exact rolls you can land.

Every orb in the game, the skill category each one powers, and the exact rolls you can land.

Orbs are the passive upgrade layer in Heavyweight Fishing. They sit in the background and push up damage, cooldown reduction, cash, and drop chance, but only for one specific family of skills. Slot the wrong orb next to the wrong skill set and it does nothing for you.

Quick answer: Orbs drop from the banner system and from NPC quest rewards. Each orb boosts only the skill category it is named after, so match the orb to the skills you actually cast, then farm duplicates until you roll a high value.

How orbs work and why the skill category matters

An orb is a passive item. You do not activate it, and it does not add a new attack. What it does is apply a percentage bonus to a locked skill category, and every orb is hard-tied to exactly one. An Execution Orb only touches Execution skills. A Qian Gate Orb only touches Qian Gate Dao skills.

The bonus itself is not fixed. Each orb rolls somewhere inside a range when you obtain it, which is why two copies of the same orb can be worth wildly different amounts. A 5% damage roll and a 150% damage roll can both come from an Execution Orb.

All orbs, their skill categories, and stat rolls

Six orbs cover the main skill families. Note that the Taoist Orb does not power a category called “Taoist” — it feeds Apex Eagle Hunt skills, which trips up a lot of players who assume the name matches the skill line.

OrbBoostsPossible rolls
Execution OrbExecution skills5–150% damage; 10–40% cash; 5–25% cooldown reduction
Sage Yijiu OrbSage Yijiu skills50–200% damage; 5–25% cash
Maoshan OrbMaoshan skills25–200% damage; 1–50% drop chance; 5–10% cooldown reduction
Cloud Ascension OrbCloud Ascension skills10–120% damage; 5–15% drop chance; 1–25% cooldown reduction
Taoist OrbApex Eagle Hunt skills25–200% damage; 5–25% cash; 1–50% drop chance; 5–10% cooldown reduction
Qian Gate OrbQian Gate Dao skills20–100% damage; 1–100% drop chance; 5–10% cooldown reduction

The Sage Yijiu Orb has the highest guaranteed floor for damage at 50%, which makes even a bad roll usable. The Qian Gate Orb is the outlier for farming, since its drop chance can reach 100%.

Where orbs come from

There are two reliable routes. The first is the banner system, reached through the Summon and Gacha buttons on the left side of the screen. This is where most players build their orb collection, and it is the only route that can hand you any of the six repeatedly.

The second is quest rewards from NPCs scattered across the islands. These are one-time payouts with fixed requirements, so they are predictable in a way the banners are not. If you have never touched an orb before, a quest orb is the fastest guaranteed one you can put in your inventory.

Redemption codes have also handed out orb rewards in the past, but those particular codes have since expired. Codes remain worth redeeming for tickets and crystals, which feed back into banner pulls. You can launch Heavyweight Fishing and use the Codes button on the left side of the screen to enter them.

Quest orbs: How to get the Bac Minh Orb on Island 7

The Bac Minh quest is the clearest example of the NPC route, and it costs nothing but skill usage.

Take a boat from the dock and sail out to Island 7. There is no shortcut here, so just drive across the water until you reach the shoreline.
Climb the hill on the island and walk up to the house near the top. Bac Minh stands at that house.
Press E to talk to him. The dialogue offers Learn Skill, Quest, and Nevermind — choose Quest.
Read the two requirements in the quest window. You need to use Head Smash 50 times and Bac Minh Technique 50 times, both starting at 0/50.

Cast both skills until each counter reads 50/50, then return to Bac Minh and speak to him again. He hands over the orb on that second conversation — if he does not, one of the two counters has not filled yet.

Farming duplicates for a better roll

Because the stat value is decided when you obtain the orb, one copy is rarely enough. A Maoshan Orb that rolls 25% damage and a Maoshan Orb that rolls 200% damage are the same item on paper and eight times apart in practice.

Plan on pulling the same orb several times and keeping the best result. This is the single biggest reason to hoard tickets and crystals rather than spending them the moment they land.

Picking the right orb for your build

Start from your skills, not from the orb list. Whatever category you already run is the only category that will benefit, so the decision is usually made for you before you open the banner.

From there, the split is simple. If you are building for raw damage, prioritise the damage roll and cooldown reduction, since faster casts multiply the damage bonus. If you are farming, the cash and drop chance rolls matter far more than a big damage number you do not need.

Tip: The Taoist Orb is the most flexible of the six because it rolls on all four stat types, which makes it a decent hold for players who switch between bossing and farming.

Once an orb is equipped, the effect is silent — there is no cast animation or on-screen prompt to confirm it. The proof is in the numbers, so compare your damage or drop rate against a run without the orb slotted, and remember that nothing will change at all if the orb and your skill category do not match.
