During the “Escape the cult” objective in Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival, a tall metal bookshelf in an examination room doubles as a hidden door. It opens only when you slot a single book back into its empty gap, and that book is The Collected Poems of Emily Dickinson. The catch is that the book is not sitting out in the open. You have to disturb the shelf before it appears.
Quick answer: First interact with the bookshelf to make a book fall. Collect The Collected Poems of Emily Dickinson and fit it into the vacant space on the shelf. The bookcase then pivots open, serving as a door.
Where the bookshelf is in the Scarlet Church
The shelf sits in a small examination room inside the cult compound, reached just after the Chatterer chase through the stone ruins. You start from the tiled basement corridor that holds a wall-mounted save point. From there you need to pass through one combat room before you reach the shelf.
Leave the tiled corridor through the green swing door on your left. The nearby concrete stairs are useless for this task: they only take you back to the wood-panelled painting hall. Use the green door instead.

The area beyond the green door contains a hooded man suspended by his ankles above a tarp, a blade lodged in his back. The note resting on the blue drum at left can be added to the Cultist Confessions collection. You must pull out the knife: doing so gives you your first weapon and starts the fight.

Grab the Save Token before touching the shelf
Take the Save Token and Apple from the examination-room gurney. On Hellraiser difficulty, the token allows a manual save. Keep in mind that the next save point is several minutes away, beyond the library.
On the highest difficulty, dying before you reach that next save point sends you back before the Chatterer chase, so collect the token here and keep it in mind for the library ahead.
Opening the bookshelf with The Collected Poems of Emily Dickinson
A tall metal bookcase filled with books is set against the partition wall; one shelf has a clearly vacant space. You don’t need a code or to choose between books: return the book that drops. First, though, interact with the bookcase itself to make anything fall.
You know it worked when the shelf pivots open on its own and the passage behind it becomes walkable. The book is used on the spot, so it does not stay in your inventory.
What is behind the shelf
In the concealed corridor, a whiteboard bears the cult’s chant as voices recite it in the background. Crouch beneath the low shelf to reach the next chamber. There, a cultist kneels above a body on a blue tarp, turned away from you. This is the stealth-kill tutorial: stay crouched as you move behind him, then use the takedown prompt to kill him for free.
Once the takedown is done, crawl beneath the cardboard-box-blocked gurney on the left; a cabinet beyond it contains +1 Gunpowder. Past it, the tiled corridor goes by a bathroom and leads to the archive library, patrolled by several cultists. Continue onward to the next wall save point beside a staircase.
With only the blade and no armor-breaking weapon yet, the library is far safer approached crouched. Take patrolling cultists down one at a time from behind, since a takedown that another cultist sees pulls everyone into an open fight.
That is the full sequence from the tiled corridor to the opened shelf. Secure the Save Token, pull the knife and win the fight it starts, then rattle the shelf, pick up Emily Dickinson’s poems, and set them back in the gap to walk through into the rest of the compound.
