Hide in Pixels pits two players against one another, giving each a huge pixel-art painting to hide inside. Shape your character one block at a time to fit the artwork, then stay still and hope your rival misses you. The player who blends in best wins the round.

Quick answer: Sit at an easel, tap the painting to copy its colors onto your avatar, move with WASD onto the matching pixels, then Lock and Submit before time runs out.

How a match works and how you win

A standard game pits you against one other player. Each round shows both of you a pixel-art canvas, and you compete to blend into it more convincingly than your opponent. The player who hides best wins that round.

Play a series of rounds, with victory going to the first player to claim two rounds. Every round won earns $250 in game cash, and your win streak is recorded for the duration of your session.

Join a match at an easel station

Matches start from the lobby. Walk up to an easel setup with a chair, which displays its capacity and prize, such as “0/2 Players” and “Win $250”. Press the interaction key (the E prompt) to sit down and queue for that match.

The chair label updates as players join, moving from “0/2 Players” to “1/2 Players” once someone sits. Once both seats fill, a countdown runs through intermission before the round begins.

During intermission you get the option to choose the painting. Picking the image costs Robux, shown discounted to 400 Robux, or you can vote to skip it. If both players pick Skip, the game chooses a canvas for you.

Play the round: blend into the canvas

When the countdown ends, a “vs” graphic appears and Round 1 begins. The pixel-art painting is revealed on your easel, and the timer starts counting down toward submission.

Study the revealed artwork and pick a spot to hide in. Look for an area where the colors around you are easy to match, so your frozen avatar reads as part of the scene.
Choose an area of the image to copy its color (“Click the picture to take a colour”), then press your avatar to transfer that color. Continue until your character fits the pixels where you intend to hide.

Move your character with the W, A, S and D keys to position it directly over the matching area of the canvas. Staying on pixels that share your color is what keeps you from being spotted.
Use the bottom tool bar to fine-tune your hiding spot. Open the Poses menu to change your stance, use Paint Frame for the color palette, and adjust Speed if you need to move more carefully.

Choose Lock to hold your character still. This preserves your pose and position, keeping your avatar merged with the painting.
Press Submit when you are happy with your hiding spot. The prompt tracks both players, moving from “SUBMIT 0/2” as each person locks in their final placement.

The Paint Frame palette also includes Undo, Redo and a zoom band so you can correct a wrong color or line up pixels more precisely before you commit.

Edit your submission before the round ends

Locking in does not end your turn. After you lock, the game shows “Locked in. You can still edit until they lock in too,” and the button switches to Edit. You can reopen your work and keep tweaking the colors or placement right up until your opponent locks in or the timer expires.

Hold off on your final edits until your opponent is close to locking. The window stays open as long as they haven’t committed, so last-second color matches can tip the round your way.

Confirming the win and what you unlock

You know a round resolved once both players have submitted and the game compares how well each avatar blended in. The better hider takes the round and collects $250. Win two rounds and you take the full game, with your streak updating on the lobby’s win displays.

Reaching 3 wins unlocks a Secret Item chair, shown in the Secret Item menu with a “0/3” progress counter that fills as you win. A Hard Mode option also exists, serving tougher canvases, though it is limited to 16+ and Pro Servers. Once you are comfortable blending into a basic canvas, those harder paintings and the win streak are where the game opens up.
