How to Craft the Titanic Scalder Harpoon Gun in Fisch (The Deep)

Every material, quest, and stat you need to build this Stage 2 harpoon gun at the Ancient Archives.

Every material, quest, and stat you need to build this Stage 2 harpoon gun at the Ancient Archives.

The Titanic Scalder is a Stage 2 harpoon gun added to Fisch with The Deep update. You cannot buy it from a merchant. Instead, you gather three materials across The Deep and forge the weapon for free at a dedicated harpoon anvil hidden inside the Ancient Archives.

Quick answer: Reach level 200, then bring 1 Thermal Harpoon, 1 Heat-Proof Metal, and 25 Salvage Scrap to the harpoon crafting anvil in the Ancient Archives (behind the Ancient Isles waterfall) and select the Titanic Scalder recipe.

Titanic Scalder crafting requirements

The recipe costs 0 C$, so the entire effort is spent collecting materials and reaching the crafting station. You also need to be level 200 before the anvil will let you build it.

Get the Thermal Harpoon from Vesper of the Deep

The Thermal Harpoon is a one-time quest reward. Head to the crater zone at the back of The Deep and find the diver NPC named Vesper of the Deep near the Lower Deep beacon.

Accept the quest called The Deep: Thermal Adaptations. It asks you to catch 15 fish in the Lower Deep. Turn the quest in once the count is met to receive the Thermal Harpoon.

Get Heat-Proof Metal from Hunter Dan’s questline

Heat-Proof Metal comes from finishing all four quests given by Hunter Dan. You can find him at his campsite near the first tower (Tower 1) in Sector 1P-1. Work through his quests in order.

Complete the first quest by gathering the requested materials for Hunter Dan, then install the Hydro-Core on the beacon tower to restore Sector 1P-1.
Take the quest The Deep: Precision in the Dark, which asks you to perfect catch 3 Snipefish and collect 5 Prism Scale. Flake bait and a Smokescreen Totem near Dr. Vane’s area make the Snipefish catches easier.

Start The Deep: Apex Encounter, which requires catching a Big or larger Atlantic Dragonfish at the Lower Deep along with 15 Bone Shards. The Dragonfish appears during nighttime and rain, and Fish Head bait helps you hook it. Completing it awards the Calibration Chip MK I upgrade.
Finish The Deep: Big Game Harpooner, the final quest. You must harpoon 3 sharks in The Deep and land 5 perfect catches in a row, best attempted around the Gloomy Crevice.

Farm 25 Salvage Scrap in The Deep

Salvage Scrap is the bulk material, and you need 25 of it. It drops from salvage items found around The Deep, such as the Divin Helmer and Broken Flashlight. You can pull salvage off the ground with a harpoon or reel it in while fishing.

The fastest route is AFK fishing with Trash Bait or a rod like the Toxinburst near salvage-heavy spots including Gloomy Crevice, Tower 3, the Outer Deep, and the area around Dr. Vane. Keep fishing until your Salvage Scrap count reaches at least 25.

Reach the Ancient Archives and craft the Titanic Scalder

With all three materials in your bag, travel to the crafting cavern. The key detail is that the Titanic Scalder uses a separate harpoon anvil, not the fishing rod stations, so the recipe only appears when you open the correct table.

Travel to Ancient Isles, the island that leads into the Ancient Archives.
Look behind the cliffside waterfall for the hidden gap, then use the rope to climb down into the Ancient Archives.
Follow the cave toward the main crafting section, crossing the broken bridge by jumping along the narrow edge.
Stand at the harpoon crafting anvil near the back of the cavern and open its menu. Select the Titanic Scalder recipe and craft it.

The craft succeeds when the Titanic Scalder appears in your inventory. You can then equip it like any other rod. If the recipe does not show up, you are likely at a rod station instead of the harpoon anvil, missing one of the three materials, or below level 200.

Titanic Scalder stats and ability

The Titanic Scalder is a high-resilience harpoon gun with strong velocity. Its stat spread favors staying reliable through the pull rather than raw power.

StatValue
Power9
Range128 studs
Reload2s
Velocity32/ps
Resilience40%
Accuracy20%
Max Kg100,000 kg

Its special ability is Forges of Blazing Heat. Every successful pull raises both the heat bar and mutation chance by 5%, while a missed pull drops both by the same amount. When the heat bar is full, catches gain a 100% chance for Scalded (9×), and the ability also increases how often pull buttons spawn as the heat bar climbs.

For enchantments, pairing Ballistic with Reinforced extends the pull button lifetime and limits its movement, which suits the weapon’s pull-heavy heat mechanic. Because its money-making potential is modest, most players treat the Titanic Scalder as a niche pickup rather than a grinding rod. If you want a follow-up target, the Relic Piercer uses the same Ancient Archives harpoon crafting, while the Trident Striker sends you toward the Desolate Deep.
