How to Drift (Roblox) Guide: Best Drifting Cars and How to Get Cash Fast

Controls, quest payouts, driver level car unlocks, and the engine upgrades that turn a starter Silvia into a drift car.

How to Drift is a Roblox driving game built around Japanese mountain passes, or touge. Signs for the Touge Tunnel and Kagami Lake line the switchbacks. The core loop is simple. You drift to earn score, cash, and XP. XP raises your driver level, which unlocks new cars, and cash pays for those cars and their parts. The fastest way through that loop is to learn the drift input first, then stack daily and weekly quests on top of normal driving.

Quick answer: Steer with WASD and press Space while turning to drift. For cash, clear all three Daily Quests for about $10,100 and work toward the Weekly Quests, which pay up to $210,000 each.

The game uses the standard keyboard layout. W and S handle throttle and braking, and A and D steer. The drift itself has a dedicated key, and the HUD reminds you of it in the bottom-right corner with the prompt “Press ‘Space’ to start a drift.”

Approach a corner and start turning with A or D. Yellow chevron signs mark the bends, so you get a little warning before each one.
Tap or hold Space while you are already steering into the turn. The rear of the car breaks loose and the drift begins.

Hold the slide with light braking and counter-steering. Too much angle spins the car, and too little sends you straight into the guardrails.

You can tell a drift is registering when the score counter and multiplier appear above the car. As long as the slide continues, that number keeps climbing. That matters because drifting pays cash directly, not just points.

How to get cash fast in How to Drift

Drifting along any road earns cash and drift score passively, so time spent practicing is never wasted. Quests are where the real money is, though. Open the Quests menu to see two tiers, Daily Quests and Weekly Quests. Each one pays both cash and XP.

Daily Quests

Daily QuestCashXP
Drive 1 tandem runs$2,300+350
Finish 2 races$3,300+350
Drive 6.0 km$1,500+175
DAILY BONUS: Claim all 3 daily quests$3,000+400

Clearing all three plus the bonus adds up to $10,100 and 1,275 XP a day. None of these tasks is demanding. Six kilometers goes by quickly on the mountain roads, and the bonus is only paid if you claim all three quests.

Weekly Quests

Weekly QuestCashXP
Bank a 150,000 point combo$70,000+11,000
Finish 20 races$80,000+8,000
Drift for 3 hours in total$210,000+21,000
Drift 800,000 points on Neon City$90,000+9,000
Drive 150.0 km$95,000+9,500

Together the weekly set is worth $545,000. The three-hour drift quest alone pays more than any single car upgrade costs. Several of these progress at the same time. A long drift session counts toward total drift time and distance, and it gives you chances to bank a big combo, so grinding one quest also chips away at the others.

The tandem daily asks you to drift alongside another car on the server. Stay close, but give yourself room.

Other players’ cars are solid. Running too close in a tandem or cutting across someone’s line can end in a collision that kills both drifts.

Best drifting cars and driver level unlocks

Every car in the Garage under the CARS tab is gated by driver level. You start with the Nish Silvia S13, and the rest of the lineup opens up as your XP climbs.

Nish Silvia S142Not listed
Beamo E675$85,000
Toyoda Runner A10010Not listed
Nish Fairlane Z3215Not listed

Reaching a level doesn’t hand you the car. It only gives you the option to buy it. The Beamo E67 unlocks at level 5, but you still need $85,000 to drive it away. Locked cars spell out the requirement in the Garage with a line like “Reach driver level 2 to unlock…”. Once that message is gone, the level gate is cleared.

Because quests pay XP as well as cash, they pull double duty here. A single week of Weekly Quests is worth 58,500 XP on top of what regular drifting earns.

Engine and turbo upgrades for drifting

A new car doesn’t have to be the first purchase. The Garage’s ENGINE tab sells performance parts that give even the starter Silvia enough power to hold long slides. The other tabs, including PAINT, WHEELS & TYRES, BODY, INTERIOR, and DECALS, are cosmetic, so they can wait.

PartTypePrice
STAGE 5Engine$20,000
Big Single TurboTurbo$25,000
Pops & BangsExhaust tune$7,500
Anti-LagExhaust tune$10,000
Flame KitExhaust tune$15,000

The Stage 5 engine and Big Single Turbo together cost $45,000, and they add a big chunk of horsepower. That extra power is what keeps the rear wheels spinning through a long drift instead of bogging down halfway around a hairpin. The exhaust tunes change how the car sounds and looks, so leave them until the power parts are installed.

One week of daily quests covers the engine and turbo on their own. Add the weekly payouts, and the Beamo E67 at level 5 is within reach soon after, with enough left over to tune it. From there, the touge roads around Kagami Lake and the Touge Tunnel are the best place to keep practicing angle and line, since every clean slide feeds the same cash and XP loop.
