The Broken Blade is one of two pieces you collect for Nate’s Quest: Restore Nates Blade (Part 1), sitting on the floor inside The Depths – Maze. The maze stays sealed until you place two enchant relics on their pedestals, so the real task is reaching The Depths and opening the door rather than hunting the item itself.

Quick answer: Drop through an ocean whirlpool down to The Depths, place a Hexed Enchant Relic and an Abyssal Enchant Relic on the two pedestals, enter the whirlpool portal that opens, and pick up the Broken Blade on a ledge inside the maze.

What you need before heading down

Bring both relics with you before you make the trip. The door-opening step cannot be completed without them, and leaving The Depths to collect a missing relic wastes the descent.

  • One Hexed Enchant Relic for the first pedestal.
  • One Abyssal Enchant Relic for the second pedestal.
  • A boat or watercraft to reach the whirlpool, plus a glider for the descent and maze.

Assign the Hexed Enchant Relic to the red pedestal and the Abyssal Enchant Relic to the blue pedestal; swapping them leaves the entrance closed.

Getting to The Depths from Moosewood

Launch a boat from the dock at Moosewood and drive out into the ocean toward the red-ringed whirlpool. This is the entry point that leads downward into Vertigo.
Drop through the whirlpool into Vertigo, then keep falling down through Vertigo’s Dip. Deploy your glider to control the descent as the area opens into The Depths below.

Glide across the cavern of The Depths toward the ritual pedestals. There are two stone altars set apart from each other, and both need a relic.

Opening the maze with the two relics

Walk up to the first stone pedestal and open your inventory. Search for your enchant relics, select the Hexed Enchant Relic, and use the Give Enchant Relic prompt to place it.

Glide up and across to the second stone pedestal on the far altar. It sits at a different height, so line up your approach before you run out of air.

Set the Abyssal Enchant Relic on pedestal two. The message “A strange whirlpool has opened” confirms the door is unlocked; a glowing whirlpool portal appears in the area’s center.

Finding the Broken Blade inside the maze

Jump into the newly opened whirlpool portal to drop into The Depths – Maze. The corridors are lit purple and wind through several turns.
Work through the maze corridors, walking and gliding along the path. Follow the turns steadily rather than rushing, since the route bends back on itself in places.

At the corner platform where the corridor opens onto a ledge, the red Broken Blade rests on the stone floor. Stand over it and press the Pick Up prompt to add it to your inventory.

Confirming you collected it

Collecting the Broken Blade completes Part 1 of Nate’s Quest: Restore Nates Blade and ticks the “Find the Broken Blade” objective. The quest then advances to Part 2, which tells you to return the pieces to Nate’s Cave. If your log still shows the objective as unfinished, you have not stepped onto the exact spot where the blade rests, so reposition over it until the Pick Up prompt registers.

The Broken Blade pairs with the Crimson Centerpiece, caught by fishing in Crimson Cavern, as the two components needed before the rod can be reassembled back at Nate’s Cave.
