How to Fish Best Mods (For Cheats and Co-op Play)

From god-mode cheat menus to eight-player lobbies and a working day-night cycle, here are the mods worth adding first.

From god-mode cheat menus to eight-player lobbies and a working day-night cycle, here are the mods worth adding first.

How to Fish is fully open to mods, and its community has moved fast to add cheats, extra players, new atmosphere, and quality-of-life fixes on top of the base game. Whether you want to skip progression entirely or just stop losing items when you die, there is already a mod for it. The picks below cover what each one changes and where it lives.

Quick answer: Install a mod loader and manager first, then grab CompleteCheatMenu or Advanced Mod Menu for god mode, the More Players mod for eight-player lobbies, Keep Inventory to protect your loot, and Day and Night Cycle for a moving sun.

Set up mod support before anything else

Most How to Fish mods run on BepInEx, a mod loader pack for Unity games that has to be installed for the rest to work. The simplest way to handle both the loader and the mods themselves is a mod manager, which installs, updates, and organizes everything for you.

You can browse and install the current How to Fish packages, including the pinned BepInExPack, from the game’s Thunderstore community page. Pair it with the Thunderstore Mod Manager so you do not have to drag files by hand.

Note: Some mods list their own dependencies. Always open the mod page and check the description before installing, because a few need extra packages to run.

Cheat menus for infinite money, ammo, and health

How to Fish normally locks stronger weapons and tools behind a progression system. Two mods bypass that entirely if you just want to mess around without grinding.

The Advanced Mod Menu is the most complete all-in-one option. It adds infinite money, no damage, free swimming, never losing a fish, infinite ammo, and no reloads, among other toggles. If you would rather stay on Thunderstore, CompleteCheatMenu covers similar ground with a clean interface and opens with the Insert key. It includes god mode, flight, ESP, a free camera, teleport, spawnable boats and items, every skin, money, bosses, baits, and a rigged roulette that always lands on your color.

Quality-of-life mods that fix everyday annoyances

These do not break the game open. They remove the small frustrations that pile up during a normal run, which matters most if you are speedrunning or playing long sessions.

ModWhat it does
Keep InventoryKeeps every item after you die, so nothing drops as loot, bounces away, or burns in lava. No need to pick items back up after respawning.
Stackable ItemsLets you stack the same item into a single inventory slot.
SaveBackupsCreates automatic rolling backups of your save files and adds a Backups tab in the Load Game screen, restoring mod data alongside the save.
BetterSwimmingReplaces jump-mashing with hold-to-swim, plus treading water, diving, and wave-accurate buoyancy, all configurable.

You can find the standalone Keep Inventory mod on Nexus, while Stackable Items, SaveBackups, and BetterSwimming are on Thunderstore.

Bigger lobbies and separate wallets for co-op

The base game caps lobbies at four players. The More Players mod raises that limit from four to eight, so a larger group can fish and cause chaos together. Check its mod page for the extra dependencies it needs before you load in.

Playing with money-sharing groups? NoSharedMoney switches the economy so each player earns and spends from their own wallet instead of one shared pot, and those balances carry between sessions.

World, atmosphere, and combat tweaks

The game is locked to daytime, even though the end credits show an evening scene. The Day and Night Cycle mod unlocks that hidden system so the sun moves from east to west, with fog and lighting shifting as time passes.

The rest of these change how the world feels or how combat plays out.

ModWhat it changes
SuperCreaturesSets the spawn chance of Super (Drip / Shiny) creatures while fishing, with a slider and a 100% guarantee mode.
FishHealthBarsAdds configurable overhead health bars for fish, with an F8 settings menu and display range controls.
GreedySeagullsMakes seagulls steal from your hands, rod, and the ground; a stolen gun fires as they fly, and an angry flock can swarm.
CursorAimMakes guns fire toward your crosshair instead of wherever the barrel is pointing.
HTFSlideAdds sliding, a sprint toggle, and a launch boost when you slide off a ledge. Client-side.
SeaLegsLets you see your own body in first person, including legs, torso, arms, and whatever you are holding.
HTFCustomRadioAdds your own stations to the in-game radio by pointing it at a music folder or internet streams.

Confirming your mods are working

A correct install is easy to verify. Cheat menus like CompleteCheatMenu open with a hotkey (Insert) and show their interface on screen. Toggles such as infinite ammo, day-night lighting, or bigger lobby counts are visible the moment you are in a session. If a mod does nothing, the most common cause is a missing dependency or BepInEx not being installed, so recheck the mod page requirements and confirm the loader is active in your manager.

Start with a mod manager and BepInEx, add one cheat menu and Keep Inventory, then layer in atmosphere and multiplayer mods as you go. That order keeps your setup stable while you decide how much of the base progression you actually want to keep.
