How to Get the Ticky Maul in Grounded 2 (Into the Abyss)

The Ticky Maul is a Tier 3 two-handed weapon added to Brookhollow Park’s water areas in Grounded 2’s Into the Abyss update. Find Ticks and farm Tick Fang

Tick Fang is the key ingredient, and it only drops from Ticks. These creatures spawn in the water-adjacent areas of the park, so head toward Skunk Pond and the surrounding zones to find them.

Open your map and travel to the area around Skunk Pond, near the Pergola and Rubber Duck #1. This is where Ticks appear, usually in low dirt trenches with clover cover.

Drop into the trench and move toward the rocky openings where the Ticks gather. Use the PEEP.R to scan one first so you can confirm its weaknesses before engaging.

Attack the Ticks and defeat them. Ticks are weak to Spicy damage and resist Smashing, Fresh, and Salty, so bring a Spicy weapon to speed up the fight. Each kill lets you harvest the remains for Tick Fang.

You need at least 6 Tick Fang for the maul itself, plus one extra to analyze. Farming a few more is smart, since repairs also cost Tick Fang.

Unlock the recipe by analyzing Tick Fang

The Ticky Maul does not appear in your crafting menu until you analyze its material. Take one Tick Fang to a Resource Analyzer to decipher the recipe.

Interact with a Resource Analyzer and select Tick Fang, which registers as a Tier 3 material.

Press Analyze. Analyzing Tick Fang unlocks three recipes at once, the Ticky Maul, the Tick Wall Mount, and the Stuffed Tick, and awards +30 Raw Science.

Once the analysis finishes, the Ticky Maul recipe is permanently added to your Workbench menu.

Craft the Ticky Maul at a Workbench

With the recipe unlocked, head to a Workbench and gather the four ingredients below. Fire Brick is made at an Oven, while Spiky Bur and Cattail Fluff are gathered out in the park.

Craft the weapon at the Workbench once you have every material in your inventory. The Ticky Maul then appears in your equipment, confirming the build worked. If the recipe is greyed out, you either have not analyzed a Tick Fang yet or are short on one of the four ingredients.

Repair cost and what the Ticky Maul builds

The Ticky Maul has 500 durability and can be upgraded through five levels at a Smithing Station. When it wears down, repairing it costs 2 Tick Fang and 1 Cattail Fluff, so keep a small stock of fangs on hand.

The maul is also a stepping stone to a higher-tier weapon. It is a required component for crafting the Fellfeast, so hold onto it if you plan to progress further into that upgrade path.
