Thunderstorm Thornblade is the weather-locked version of Aniimo’s No. 34 grass swordsman, and it is the one form in the line you cannot evolve your way into. It only appears when the sky turns, it only appears once, and if you knock it out instead of catching it, that spawn is gone.
Quick answer: Wait for rain or a thunderstorm, head to -0224, 0688 in the Sea of Flowers, and catch the Thornblade wrapped in a purple electrical aura with an Anipod before it dies.
Thunderstorm Thornblade spawn conditions
Everything about this variant is gated on weather. Clear skies mean it simply is not in the world, no matter how many times you reload the area.
- It spawns only during rainy or stormy weather in the Sea of Flowers.
- Only one Thunderstorm Thornblade exists at a time.
- It does not respawn once it has been caught or defeated.
- It cannot be obtained through evolution — catching is the only route.
- The weather tab on the map tells you when a storm is due.
The Sea of Flowers sits at a recommended level of roughly 35–37, so bring a team that matches the region before you go hunting in bad weather.

Find the spawn point in Breezy Plains at -0224, 0688. It sits on a grassy hill covered with purple flowers. In the center of the area, northwest of the Alpha Irisal arena, look for a small, round building with white walls and a thatched roof beside the ruined tower. Ride there, leave your mount at the slope’s base, then continue on foot.

The variant stands out immediately. It carries a glowing purple electrical aura that the standard grass version does not, and it usually shares the hillside with an ordinary Budsquire. The encounter level here is 23, well below the surrounding region, so the fight itself is not the hard part — the catch is.

How to catch Thunderstorm Thornblade

There is no second chance here. Because this spawn does not return, an accidental knockout costs you the variant for good.
How to confirm the catch and claim the Pale Thorn
A successful throw plays the capture animation and then pops a Completed Research banner, since the encounter also satisfies the “Defeat this Aniimo 0/1” research task for the line. From there, press to open the Anilog and check entry No. 34B — Thunderstorm Thornblade should now be registered, with the caught creature added to your collection at its encounter level.
The catch also awards the Pale Thorn, whose description reads:
This item records your victory against the Thunderstorm Thornblade.
Thunderstorm Thornblade stats, elements, and skills
Thunderstorm Thornblade is a Nova stage DPS that carries both Grass and Lightning elements, unlike the pure Grass base form. Its statline is identical to the standard version.

| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| 96 | |
| 121 | |
| Magic Attack | 121 |
| P.Def | 74 |
| 73 | |
| 53 | |
| Regen | 92 |
Its trait is Sword Dance. Every skill you use grants one stack, up to four, each lasting 15 seconds, and every basic attack spends a stack to deal 180 percent extra damage. In the Homeland it brings Artisanship Lv. 3, Grass Lv. 3, and Lightning Lv. 2.
| Skill | Element | EP | Power |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thorny Defense | 20 | 75 | |
| Aqua Defense | 20 | 75 | |
| Thorny Impact | 20 | 57 | |
| Lightning Impact | 20 | 57 | |
| Thorny Rain | 10 | 30 | |
| Elegant Waltz (Ultimate) | 0 | 172 |
The kit is built around crit. Thorny Impact and Lightning Impact are dashes that raise Crit Rate by 15 percent for 15 seconds on hit, while Thorny Defense cuts incoming damage by 20 percent, counters when you are struck in stance, and pushes crit rate up 30 percent if you time the cast into an incoming attack. Aqua Defense trades that crit bonus for a 12-second Lockdown on a perfectly timed block. Stack skills for Sword Dance, spend the stacks on basic attacks, and finish with Elegant Waltz once the buffs are live.
