How to Sell Items in VV Ultimatum for Soul Tokens

Which items return the most Soul Tokens, the Dark Essence sell trick, and how trading works.

Selling items in VV Ultimatum converts spare drops and crafting materials into Soul Tokens, the currency you spend across the game’s progression systems. The catch is that some items pay far more when sold than when used, and one cheap material is worth far more after a quick craft. Knowing which items to offload, and which to hold, decides how much value you actually get back.

Quick answer: Sell items from your inventory to receive Soul Tokens. Great Soul Essence and Soul Essence return a fixed maximum value when sold, which beats their random use value. For Dark Essence, craft two into an Invasion Bell first, then sell the Bell for 200 Soul Tokens instead of selling each Essence for 20.

How selling works in VV Ultimatum

Selling an item removes it from your inventory and pays out Soul Tokens. Several consumables can either be used for an effect or sold for currency, and the smarter choice is not always obvious. Essence items in particular grant a random amount of Soul Tokens when used, but sell for a fixed maximum value, so selling is the reliable way to lock in their full worth.

Note: The Token Booster increases your Soul Token gain by 25% for 30 minutes, but it does not apply to items you sell. Activating it before a sell session will not raise the payout, so save it for token sources that actually benefit from the boost.

Best items to sell for Soul Tokens

A few items are clearly better sold than used. The two Essence consumables fall into this group because their fixed sell value outperforms their random use payout. The table below covers the items where selling is the recommended move, along with what you get.

Great Soul EssenceRare drop from chests and bosses. Sell for its fixed maximum value rather than using it for a random Soul Token amount. Also used in crafting.
Soul EssenceDrops from chests, bosses, and more. Sell for the fixed maximum value instead of using it for random tokens. Also a crafting material.
Invasion Bell (crafted)Sells for 200 Soul Tokens. Craft one from 1x Spirit Alloy and 2x Dark Essence.
Dark EssenceSells for only 20 Soul Tokens on its own. Convert into an Invasion Bell before selling for far more value.

The Dark Essence to Invasion Bell sell trick

Dark Essence is the clearest example of why crafting before selling matters. Sold raw, it returns just 20 Soul Tokens each. Crafted into an Invasion Bell instead, that same material sells for 200 Soul Tokens, a tenfold increase for two Essence and a Spirit Alloy.

Gather the materials for an Invasion Bell. You need 1x Spirit Alloy and 2x Dark Essence. Dark Essence itself is crafted from 5x Hollow Parts.
Craft the Invasion Bell. Using the Bell normally consumes it and enters you into an invasion, so only craft it for selling if you do not plan to use it.
Sell the Invasion Bell for 200 Soul Tokens. Confirm the payout by checking your Soul Token balance before and after the sale.

Trading items with other players

Beyond selling for Soul Tokens, most items in VV Ultimatum can be traded with other players. Trading is the route to take when you want a specific item rather than currency, since you can swap your spares for materials or consumables you actually need. The most active place to arrange and organize trades is the game’s official Discord, where players post what they are offering and looking for.

Items to keep instead of selling

Not everything should be sold. Several materials are gates for high-value crafts or progression resets, and selling them wastes effort you will only have to repeat. Hold these unless you have a clear surplus.

  • Hogyoku Shard, which crafts The Hogyoku with 7 of them or contributes to a Hollow Soul.
  • Crafting materials such as Spirit Alloy, King Crocodile Scale, and Frostvein Shard that feed into recipes and quests.
  • Build Reset Token and Prayer Beads materials, which are expensive to recraft if sold by mistake.

The simplest rule holds across all of it. Sell Essence items and crafted Invasion Bells for guaranteed Soul Tokens, trade through the Discord when you need a particular item, and keep anything tied to crafting or progression resets. Watching your Soul Token total tick up after each sale confirms the trade went through.
