If you use an iPhone and an iPad with the same Apple ID, you might notice that your iMessages appear on both devices. While this synchronization can be convenient, there are situations where you might prefer to keep your messages only on your iPhone. Perhaps you share your iPad with family members, or you want to minimize distractions on your tablet. Thankfully, you can disable iMessage on your iPad without affecting your Apple ID or your ability to download apps and media you've purchased.
Step 1: On your iPad's home screen, tap on the Settings app to open it.
Step 2: In the Settings menu, scroll down the left sidebar until you find Messages. Tap on it to access the Messages settings.
Step 3: At the top of the Messages settings, you'll see an option labeled iMessage with a toggle switch next to it. Tap the toggle to turn it off. The switch will change from green to gray, indicating that iMessage is now disabled on your iPad.
With iMessage turned off on your iPad, you will no longer receive messages on this device. Your iPhone will continue to receive iMessages as usual, allowing you to keep your conversations private and your iPad free from message notifications.
