The new iPhone devices launched in 2018 completely ditched out the fingerprint scanner based Touch ID security layer for iPhone devices in favor of the face recognition security feature Face ID.

The iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR do not feature a Touch ID fingerprint scanner. There’s no home button on the new iPhone models where Apple could house the Touch ID sensor.

If you’re coming from an older iPhone, getting used to the Face ID on iPhone XS and X4 might take some time. But it’s convenient feature just like the Touch ID.

For lock screen security, you get Face ID and numeric passcode options on iPhone XS, XS Max, and iPhone XR.
