Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix: How to Get All of Donald’s Weapons

Donald Duck can wield 20 different staves in Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix once you count the upgraded “+” versions crafted through Moogle synthesis. Some are simple shop purchases; others come from Olympus Coliseum Cups, hidden chests, rare enemy drops, or special recipes. Several of these weapons do not exist in the original non-Final Mix release.

Quick answer: Buy the six shop staves as worlds unlock, grab the chest and Cup rewards along the way, synthesize the recipe weapons, then farm the 1% enemy drops and Mushroom XIII rewards last.

Shop staves you can buy with Munny

These are the fastest additions to Donald’s inventory. Shop stock grows as the story progresses, so if a staff is not on sale yet, keep playing until you reach the listed world. A few of them appear in more than one shop later, but the table lists the earliest place you can grab each one.

The Mage’s Staff is equipped from the start, so your first real upgrade is the Hammer Staff for just 100 Munny once you reach Hollow Bastion.

Chest and Cup reward staves

Meteor Staff

On your second visit to Port Royal, head to Ship Graveyard: Seadrift Keep and open the chest there. The Meteor Staff carries 4 Strength, 3 Magic, and Thunder Boost, which makes it a solid mid-game pick before the later worlds open up.

Rising Dragon

At Olympus Coliseum, completing Panic’s Cerberus Cup awards Rising Dragon, which provides 4 Strength, 4 Magic, and Fire Boost. The reward is guaranteed, so clear the Cup as soon as it unlocks instead of depending on the random drops below.

Rare 1% enemy-drop staves

Three staves only come from specific enemies, each with a 1% drop chance. Equip any drop-rate boosting abilities you have and expect to repeat the encounters many times.

WeaponDropped byWhere to farmStr / Mag + ability
Shaman’s RelicShaman HeartlessPride Lands (Jungle, Wastelands, Wildebeest Valley), some Cups incl. Hades Paradox4 / 5, Blizzard Boost
Nobody LanceDragoonsThe Old Mansion (Twilight Town), The World That Never Was5 / 5, Defender
Shaman’s Relic+NecromancersCavern of Remembrance, via the Postern in Radiant Garden / Hollow Bastion4 / 5, Defender

Drops take the most time to collect across the whole set, so start by claiming the fixed rewards from chests, shops, the Cup, and recipes. That way, Donald already has most of the upgrades he can use before you begin farming.

Moogle synthesis staves

Save the Queen and Save the Queen+

Find the Save the Queen recipe in the chest at the Land of Dragons: Throne Room, then bring it to a Moogle to synthesize the staff. It gives 5 Strength, 6 Magic, and Hyper Healing. Synthesize it once more using a Serenity Crystal to create Save the Queen+, which retains those stats but replaces the ability with MP Rage.

Open the chest before you exit the Throne Room. Its recipe is needed to create either weapon version.

Centurion and Centurion+

After Sora’s second visit to Twilight Town, defeat Lexaeus’ Absent Silhouette at the Sandlot there to obtain the Strength Beyond Strength recipe. Synthesize it to make the Centurion (13 Strength, 3 Magic), then add a Serenity Crystal to create Centurion+, which gains Damage Control. These staves have 13 Strength, making them Donald’s most powerful physical options.

Mushroom XIII staves

The mushroom-themed staves come from the odd-numbered Mushroom XIII challenges. You can find the relevant Mushroom XIII at these locations:

  • Memory’s Skyscraper, The World That Never Was
  • Bridge, Beast’s Castle
  • Treasure Room, Agrabah
  • Tunnelway, Twilight Town
  • Castle Gate, Radiant Garden / Hollow Bastion
  • Waterway, Timeless River (Disney Castle)

These staves favor Magic heavily and climb in power as you clear the challenges. Treat them as late collection goals since they come from challenge rewards rather than a fixed chest or shop.

How to confirm the collection is complete

Each weapon appears in Donald’s equipment menu the moment you obtain it, so you can check progress there. Run through this list to be sure nothing is missing:

  • Bought all six shop staves as the worlds unlocked.
  • Took the Meteor Staff from the Seadrift Keep chest on Port Royal’s second visit.
  • Won Panic’s Cerberus Cup and claimed the Rising Dragon.
  • The three 1% drops were obtained by farming Dragoons, Necromancers, and Shaman Heartless.
  • Opened the Land of Dragons Throne Room chest and beat Lexaeus’ Absent Silhouette for both recipes.
  • Cleared the odd-numbered Mushroom XIII challenges.
  • Reserve Serenity Crystals for crafting Save the Queen+ and Centurion+.

Once all 20 staves sit in the menu, Donald is fully kitted out. For pure magic output the Premium Mushroom tops the list at 9 Magic, while the Centurion line gives him the raw strength to pull his weight against the toughest bosses.
